I have a 250 guest list. Maybe 1/3 to 1/4 will be coming in from out of town. I only reserved 25 rooms in one hotel, but if those fill, then there is an option to reserve more if necessary. You have to figure that some people will be sharing. They can always reserve something else if they want something cheaper or more luxurious or closer to a certain attraction.

I did 10 rooms at a hotel near the church, 10 rooms near the reception and 10 at a fancy hotel on the beach.  We might need more rooms, but I figured I’d start with the minimum.

40 rooms is WAY too many for 100 people, especially if you say half your list is local. The other half will probably be couples and families sharing rooms.

I reserved 15 rooms total for 150 people (2/3 of which are from out of town). The hotel I talked to told me that the most shes ever had booked from a room block was 17 rooms…

how many of the ones from out of town are couples?  if a lot of them are couples, you many want to reduce your number based on that.  i created a spreadsheet and counted up the rooms i thought people would need to see how many rooms i needed to set aside (i reserved a block at the venue and at another one that was a bit more affordable).  good luck!

@duckduckamy, that’s so interesting what the woman at the hotel said! I guess I’ve never booked a room through a block so that makes sense!

We’re getting married at a hotel. So far we have 25 rooms blocked off but I think Im going to get them to block off another 5 rooms. We have a lot of out of town family (122 guests invited) but a lot of intown guests want rooms as well… so no one has to drive.
