2 days? Thats nothing. I think it took me 3 months to find my house. I mapped out open houses so I could see 5 or 6 every Sunday. Then at least another 2 or 3 during the week with my buyers agent.  I looked at everything-even if I wasn’t interested in that particular house, I wanted to see what an an extra 10% would buy, what cheaper houses looked like and if they were in a good neighborhood would the dollars to fix it up be worth it? I had my list down of everything I wanted, exactly what I wanted to pay, and the minute my house came on the market I snatched it up like a hawk before the realtor could even get a sign in the yard! 8 years later and I still love it.

We started looking in February in one area.  Ten houses later in April I lost my job/got a new job and we needed a new area.  We looked at probably 40 houses there before we settled in August on our current home.  We were outbid on 2 homes in May before we got this one too.

We looked at 4. We had seen 3 that day and I hated all of them. I was ready to go home. We went to see the fourth, which was $100,000 more. Loved it. Bought it. Never regretted it and don’t mind having to cut back other things to live here. That was almost 4 years ago.

18 months, at least 60 houses (probably more), 3 failed contracts. House hunting sucked a lot. But being here in this house was worth the wait and heartache.

We looked at one house and bought that house! We still love it and have no regrets we didnt look at more. I think when you know you just know! We pictured ourselves in our house the minute we walked in and it felt so right!

We looked at over 20 the past 10 months and the sellers just accepted our offer on one last week! We made some offers and fell in love with houses that turned out to have contracts. It was definitely not an easy road and I’m so glad it’s over!

We looked at 3 houses over the course of a few hours and made an offer on the 2nd house.  It was like a real-life episode of House Hunters.  However, my Fiance and I had spent a couple of months beforehand researching and driving by houses we were interested in on our own, so we had a very good idea of what we wanted.  We were originally planning to see 5 or 6 homes on the first day, but they went under contract before we got to see them.

Depends. For my income properties, I always go out knowing what I want. Whether or not I *like* the house, I know if it will make me money or not. It never takes me long and I usually look at 3 to 5 before deciding.

For a family home, it takes me a bit longer – I would say about 12 to 15 houses. If I’m not living in it, I just don’t care as much. It’s a matter of will it make money and how much work do I have to do? For a family home, I need to be able to envision our lives unfolding in it 🙂

ETA: I look at TONS on MLS, but for this question I assumed the OP meant look at in person.

I think it will depend on the market where you are! If there are lots of options to fit your criteria you will probably look at a lot more houses, and if it is a hot market you are way more likely to lose a house to something like being outbid. We looked for our house in the off real estate season, so there were more limited options available, and there wasn’t a lot moving so we didn’t need to to worry about being outbid. We did a couple weekends where we looked at about 5 houses each time and then decided on the one we liked and got it.

Darling Husband and I still have to interview realtors and we’ve seen over 20 houses between open houses and show homes.  Plus probably another 50 on MLS.

We looked at 5 homes in-person (and had a shortlist of about 20 we liked based on their listings) but things were moving quickly with all of these homes, so we decided on one pretty quickly.

I think we looked at over 100 homes over 10 months.  I’m picky plus I’m Chinese, so it was a long process.
