How big is your wedding? If there are more people standing up then sitting down thats too many.

how big is your wedding? generally, the bigger your wedding, the more bms you can get away with. you have to consider the costs of having a lot of bms too though — bouquets and gifts can start to add up.

My Fiance and I are each going to have 4 or 5 people standing for us< We’re having between 150 and 200 guests so I think it’s a good size.

The most I’ve ever seen was 10 of each and it was a ZOO. I understand wanting to honor all your friends/relatives, but at some point it just becomes a madhouse getting 20+ people arranged for events/pictures/fittings. I just had to simplify things and only chose my sister and my best friend as my bridesmaids. If you are forced to leave some friends out of the wedding party, it might be nice to ask them to do a reading so they still feel included.

Its true … the more of a bridal party you have, the more hectic (and drama) there will be.  I have 8 on my side, 7 on his … and although all the girls get along (and thank god there isn’t any drama related things) its still hectic bc you have different people, different personalities, different opinions, different everything.  If you can keep it smaller, do it (my best advice now that I’m going through it).

lol  But, if you really really want to have a large bridal party, then it really depends on your guest amount.  We’re doing 15 (total) and that’s for a 120 person wedding; even I think that’s too many for that size of a wedding.  But, it is what it is.  😉

Incoporate the ones you can’t put in the party as ushers, readers, juniors … theres many different things they can do to feel involved.  🙂

Have you seen “27 Dresses”?   Katherine Heigl had 27 bridesmaids.   But on a serious note, if you have an uneven amount of bridesmaids compared to groomsmen, the wedding party will look funny.   I also think if you go beyond 3 -4 it might look strange too.   This is my personal opinion though.   You might have 10 on each side and it may work out for you.
