Such interesting opinions and reasoning on this thread! I seem to be an outlier here but Darling Husband & I both want 4-5 kids. I originally said 4-6 he said we’ll see after #4 LOL. We’re both 26 and TTC baby #2. Hoping to have 2 years or less between kids so that we will be done with having children by age 34ish. I wonder at what point someone feels their family is “complete”, I guess we’ll see!

We want 3 or 4! I have 2 siblings and he has 3, so we are used to big families. I don’t understand the need to feel like you have to buy your kids car or pay for their college education. While we would like to have some kind of savings account for our children, we both paid for our own vehicles and our own college educations and we turned out just fine. It taught us responsibility and we want our children to grow up to be independent.

ChelseaGabrielle:  I have 1 and would like to keep it that way lol. She’s 6. Honestly, my reasons may rub some people the wrong way, but I’m gonna be honest. Judge me if you want, I doubt I’ll care.

-Kids are expensive. Expensiveeeeee. Fiance and I are finally in a fairly comfortable financial state, and I’d like to keep it that way.

-Kids have a ton of energy that I just don’t have. Even at 6, my daughter is a handful. I can’t imagine another one.

-I don’t know if I’d love another child the way that I love my daughter. This is the part where people usually say I’m crazy lol. But seriously, my daughter and I have been through a lot. I lived in one state my whole life, met her father (who is not my FI), got pregnant, moved 7 hours from home, got abandoned by her father, and had to at that point in my life, live off of welfare. She was all I really had at that point in my life. Truly, she was my reason for pushing through all of that. I feel like we have this bond that I’m not sure I would ever have with another kid. I just see her as my one and only. My baby for life.

-Labor hurts

LOL!

For me I say have no kids or have two kids. With no kids, you have freedom to do whatever, you don’t have a little thing dependent on you which is great. With two kids, you have the dependancy, BUT the kids will have each other to play with.. While if you just have one kid you, have to be the childs sole entertainment for the most part. It’s the same reason I adopt animals in pairs. I prefer girls over boys, but as I picture my dream future I don’t see kids in them. Maybe a pair of cats, though.

We hope to have 5! However, if I have three and they are all girls I don’t know if I would try again. My fiancé has 5 siblings, I only have one and I always hated it!
