@ChuckNorris:  Work was super far and plus I had classes with loooong breaks in between so I used to drive back and forth from home to school non-stop. That was when I lived in Michigan. Now that I’m back in NY, thank God for public transportation, haha.

I drive less than 5000 a year but Darling Husband puts on around 30000-40000 per year. He can drive two hours each way for work, while I only drive to take the boys to school and misc shopping on my way to or from.

My 4.5 year old car has 72,000 km on it, so about 16,000/year.

I guessed 5000-10000. I drive 150 a week to/from work. And any other time, we use FIs car since he has a hybrid and gets MUCH better mileage than my gas hog.

About 3,000 miles per year.  My commute is 2.5 miles one way, some days I bike.  I rarely leave the valley in this car (isn’t really safe enough for long distances!).

I’m envious of those of you who drive less than 5k a year! I have a 40 minute commute every day, so the miles are really adding up. I bought my car in June 2010 with 10k miles and just recently hit the 55k mark. My poor car!

Not that many at all.  My work is about 12 miles round trip.  My errands are right around the corner.  It’s why I went for a leased car.  Haha

I drive about 20k a year, but I’m in an LDR so every other weekend I put 250 miles on my car. And we also take long road trips for long weekends, which are usually 300-500 miles. And his parents live 6 hours away, so we we drive another 800ish miles 3 times a year.

About 15,000 mayeb 20,000 this year because we moved to a city with huge suburban sprawl from a very compact city with lots of alternative transportation. Darling Husband and I share a hybrid, so that gas costs aren’t bad, but we’re about 15k over our lease milage… it’ll be okay though since we already planned to by the car after. We also drive to our old homeotwn once a week because I teach a class at the university there… so that’s about 200 miles alone once a week.

5,000 miles, give or take. We could get by without a car (we don’t drive to work, could bike everywhere and take BART/bus) but we love to take weekend trips to go hiking, and grocery shopping is a lot less annoying with a car. When we lived in Boston, we didn’t own a car at all, just used Zipcar hourly. There isn’t as good of access to them here, so we bit the bullet and bought a car this summer.
