I would go ahead and get some preliminary blood work and hormone checks done.  Those need to be done on certain days in  your cycles (typically 3, 10, 7dpo) so I’d get on that next natural cycle.  I was 32 when we started trying, and my doctor had no issues with ordering up blood work for me after 8 months of trying.

pinkmountain:  They’d check your E2 levels at CD3 and 10, progesterone at 7dpo.  They may also do TSH to test thyroid function.

I agree with pinkshoes…I would get some preliminary blood tests done (you can just ask your obgyn/gyno). Many people had blood work done before they are even ttc so I would think that might be your first step. Best of luck to you!! I hope you get pregnant soon 🙂

pinkmountain:  For months seems like a bit early to me, but you could always ask your doc what he/she thinks!

We haven’t even started TTC yet and we’ve already made the decision to go in after 6 months of trying if we don’t get pregnant by August. I’m older though, I’ll be 35 by then and I just don’t want to waste any time. I would say call your doctor and see what they can set up for you!

For me, this was something that my OBGYN determined for me based on how long i was trying, my age and health history.  I had my consult appointment sometime around my 9 cycle TTC but did preliminary testing way before it.  Good luck, lady!

I agree with PP for everything but I’d also recommend charting your temperature (if you don’t already). It can give you and your doctors a lot of information that is important!

I would call now and make an appointment for 2 months from now.  Sometimes it can take a while to get an appointment – if you want til 6 months to make an appointment, you may have to wait a little while longer.

Like pinkshoes said, I’d ask your OB-GYN for blood tests now.  In addition to the tests she said, some additional ones include FSH (on CD3) and AMH, as well as prolactin.<br />

pinkmountain:  Yes, they will start with seman analysis for your husband.  If everything looks good on that end, then no further testing will be necessary for him.  Otherwise, they may order some hormone tests for him.  I’m not too sure what happens in this case since my husbands SA was ok and they didnt look any further into him as an issue.

pinkmountain:  exactly what pinkshoes said.  Sometimes, not always, this can be done, if ordered by his personal physician.  This way, it may be covered by his insurance.
