When I first signed up fro Pinterest I LOOOOVED it–esp for wedding planning. I know lots of people have mixed feelings about it, and I’ve seen some funny blogs/memes about crap that people try to make from pinterest (and lets face it–there’s some stuff on there that you see and think, ‘really?!’).
The circulation of the pins means you never really know where the statements like “another pinner says: this is the BEST THING EVER” or “this REALLY WORKS AND CHANGED MY LIFE” may not be verifiable.
I still pin like crazy, don’t get me wrong. Now that we’re moving to a new place and purging lots of crap in our current home, I’m alllll about the organizational tips. But part of me gives myself side-eye and thinks “girl, come on. You’re never going to do any of this”…but oh, I really want to when I pin it!! Maybe this tim will be different.
What have you tried and completed from pinterest that was really, really worth it?
Disclaimer: I have tried and loved and kept a huge handful of recipes, so those are a little different. I’m thinking DIY things or organizational tips or crafts, etc.

Pinterest helped me (in terms of the house) with decorating for parties, arrangement of a photo wall, picking colors for our bedrooms, style of dining chairs and I’ve done a few other small little crafts here and there.
Like you, I have pinned & then made ALOT of recipes, also tried several hairstyles that I pinned as well.
One thing that EVERYONE does that I don’t do is pin spaces (particularly home pics) of rooms that I don’t have. People will pin these elaborate backyards, or homes that have water slides inside of them, and I don’t get it, becuase all my pins serve as a purpose for inspiration.

I think only 2?? But they have turned out great! We made wine bottle tiki torches and I made flip flop baskets for the wedding. I picked up a shadow box frame to make a ticket holder/display as well, but haven’t decorated it yet…
And yeah, I too have made lots of recipes thanks to Pinterest!
eta FI’s sister has made a TON of things, I am kind of jealous of how incredibly crafty she is!!

I cooked Thanksgiving dinner last year primarily from Pinterest-found recipes, and it was fabulous! I also have made many many other food-things from there, most have been okay-good, a couple have been terrible (and then I delete the pins right away!)
My home board has kind of helped to be inspiration as we’ve been fixing up our house. And my wedding board has done nothing more than look pretty and have good ideas for the future! I seriously need to get the bigger details worked out before I can dive into the inspiration on there…

I’ve done tons of recipes and tried some hair/makeup ideas, but I haven’t done any craftsy things yet because I’m moving in less than a year and I want to take as little as possible with me.
I do have some pure fantasy things pinned just because I think they’re pretty or unusual. They’re just for fun.

Nothing yet. But I view a lot of it as future planning for when we have kids and such (cute kid crafts, nursery inspiration, etc).

I mostly have just done recipes.
For crafty stuff, I repainted a ceiling fan. It was gold, I repainted it oiled bronze color.
And I found an ugly deer mini-statue at the thrift store and repainted it white and it looks awesome.
Other than that… I tried this ant killer thing and it worked! http://pinterest.com/pin/206180489160734627/
Most of the stuff I’ve pinned are “ideas for the future”, like for the next house we buy, or kid activities.

I’ve done a few things that I’ve pinned. Many recipes like others have and also some gift wrapping ideas. I got a lot of wedding inspiration from pinterest and gave my photographer some pinterest pictures I wanted to recreate (which we did… haven’t gotten them back yet though!)

I’ve done some of the decoration signs, lots of recipes, and a few gift ideas. My cousins have been doing alot of the parent presents that turned out SO cute- like the letter to the parents using candy names. Very cute! The thing I am a little wary about is when the heading says something like ONLY 100 CALORIES! and its like a cookie dough brownie. In my wildest pinterest dreams lol. It’s also really fun to go to pinterest parties- a great excuse for a girls night!

I’ve made quite a few recipes (some s’mores bars last weekend turned out a little TOO good), and a few craft projects. I’m most proud of these roman shades I made, from a tutorial on Pinterest:
And also these envelope pillow cases:

@MrsFeatherbottom: Oooh that sounds like fun! Yeah I am allll over the recipes, and now that wedding planning is over, I am really determined to complete some decorative and organization DIY projects since when we move into our new place…it’s kind of what I’m considering our first “married home”, since we’re moving out of state and we just ahve eachother. I definitely want to use pinterest to make it homey and cozy…I am sooo not crafty thought, so ugh, who knows!! I have good intentions but then I’m like “oh wait, I can order this from Overstock…”
