I wanted to see how many people fell in love with only 1 dress, “settled” but weren’t in love with their first dress, or caved in and bought a second dress. Or did you settle for your ceremony dress and buy an awesome reception dress!

Yeah, it totally would have been settling if I had stuck with the first dress–which I did originally because of the awesome price. But I realized it felt too… sophisiticated? I dunno. Also, it showed off one of my problem areas a little too much, so I would’ve been self-conscious all day if I hadn’t changed it.
My new dress is so much more ME and goes with the tone of the wedding better!

I bought the first dress I tried on…went home had major dress regret and ended up canceling the order! The second dress I bought I loved and it definitely felt more like me!

I love my dress, I would hate to have to change out of it for another dress!

I didn’t settle for either.. i fell in love with both my ceremony and my reception dress haha!

@kingytobe: I totally know what you mean! I’m already feeling sad about the idea of taking it off at the end of the night. The wedding ends at 6, but I fully intend to wear my dress straight through the after-party at my friend’s house.
This brings up another point I’ve been thinking about lately. When we use the term “2-dress bride” on here, it can mean 2 different things.
1) Brides who have a different ceremony and reception dress and
2) Brides who suffered the dreaded ‘dress regret’ and bought a 2nd, replacement dress.
Clearly this post and I both refer to the second camp. Seems like there should be a way to distinguish more easily between the two.

@ItsPronounced ABear-I totally agree with you with the distiguishing of the term 2 dress bride. I think most of the time it means “dress regret” but there needs to be a term for ceremony and reception dress brides!
@Banana29: I LOVE your second dress.

I voted other because I bought 5. It wasn’t so much dress regret with the dresses 2, 3, and 4 so much as I bought them without trying them on and they didn’t work right. Dress 1 was totally dress regret, though. The others I bought online because they were designers I do not have access to in my rural hometown so it was either snap them up when I had the chance in my price range or never know and wonder if they could have been it. Of course, I was super excited when I got them because I wanted them to be “it” but after putting them on and trying them out a bit, I realized that if I had put it on in a salon, I wouldn’t have purchased it. So I resold them all and don’t feel too badly about it. I thought I was out more money, but after reselling 4 dresses, my spreadsheet tells me I am -$90 so I’ll take it. I ended up buying a discontinued sample from a salon for my final dress and I am so excited!

Just went through this last week! I settled for my 1st dress, and last Thursday we went back and ordered one of the other dresses I tried on and bought it. I love it so much better and I’m super excited.

Uh I have three— anyone interested in buying 2?

I was originally a 3 dress bride and wanted to be a 2 dress bride. Mainly because I couldn’t make up my mind about which look I prefered. I originally purchased a dress online and it came out horribly and nothing like what I imagined.
I later purchased a replacement dress for that one and its gorgeous! The second dress was my ideal simple style dress. I wanted it to wear at a smaller ceremony.

I am a 2 dress bride but it was never planned that way. i bought what i thought was my dream dress, and when it arrived it was the wrong colour. i loved everything else about it, the style and the fit, but could not wear it in that blush-peachy colour.
And to be fair to us Chinese replica brides…..we dont get to try them on or even see them in there full glory before we get them, the only time we see them is when they arrive on our doorstep, so some disappointment is inevitable sometimes i suppose. but on the plus side, paying £100 for a dress, then having to buy another, wont break the bank, whereas i would be gutted to pay Thousands on a dress and not love it.
I ordered another dress. and THIS was the first dress i wanted BEFORE i ordered the first one. so i ordered it, and even though it hasnt arrived yet, they have sent me pictures and i love the look of it. I will only truely know if i love it when it arrives this week!
If my wedding was longer, and i was having an evening parety, then i would maybe wear dress#1 for the ceremony and my new dress for the reception,. but as its only from 2pm—8pm, i will only be wearing dress #2.

I think its become increasingly more common for brides to end up with 2 dresses… but I have one dress and love it!
