Ok so I just started a rough dratf of my seating chart so that I know how many centerpieces we are lookiing at etc. We are expecting about 80 guest and i am trying to seat people with people they know and it just seems to work out to 10 people a table for several reasons, but is that too many people to a table? the tables are round! Plus this would save us some money on centerpieces!

It depends on the tables- a lot of tables seat ‘up to 10’ but are a lot more comfortable with 8. If you can comfortably fit 10 people such that they’re not bumping elbows all night, then I think it’s fine.

Depends on how fat the people are.

10 per table is a pretty standard setup. Can you check with your venue? I know ours had different sizes of round tables, some intended for 10 rather than 8 guests.

Thanks i will have to check with my venue… most my guest are fairly thin… plus people will basically be seated with family so its not like they are not comfortable with the people. seating is so difficult!!! since my mom and dad’s family are not very close since they have been seperated for 19 year (on good terms tho) and my FH’s mom and dads family dont really know eachothe bc of distance. So I basically have 4 different “cliques” that need to sit together…. very difficult.

Don’t put the 10 at the table if their is another way. A comfortable table is 8 people.

I agree, depends on the size of the table. For some perspective, the tables our venue provides are 60″ round – they told us they are meant to seat 10, but we tried that setup and….no way. We’re going with 8 so people have some room to breathe.

I think 8 would be more comfortable

Only put 8 people. 10 is too many for a 60′ round. The comfort of your guests will be worth the 2 extra tables.

OK no I am really concerned… there is no way i can only do 8 people a table, just the way it works out number wise… i basically come out with mostly tables of 9 and few 8… i am worried about my guests being uncomfortable now!!!
