With a few days left to go I am still waiting on about 25% of my guests (about 40 people) to RSVP. I think it is so rude-how hard is it to put a pre-stamped envelope in a mailbox??? How many people did you have to track down after your RSVP deadline?

ktrv927 : I was just talking to my mom about this! Our replies are due July 20th, and we are still waiting on about 100 replies. We invited 218 guests. I’m imagining we’ll have to contact around 25% of our guests as well. I agree, it’s so frustrating! Even if you don’t want to return the card, text me or email me!

That’s a lot! So annoying. Do you have email addresses for (most) everyone and can you send out a reminder a day or two after your deadline?

We invited 72. None of my relatives RSVPd officially, but I knew they were coming because either they or my dad told me (all his side–i don’t know my mom’s side). So that’s about 14 who didn’t RSVP. MIL and Father-In-Law also didn’t RSVP but of course we knew. So 16.
Then of the friends category we had to track down 3 couples. So 22 out of 72 did not RSVP; 6 out of 72 had to be tracked down since I safely assumed the rest. All 6 went through a “oh shit I forgot, let me see if I can make it work” phase and then after 3-4 days when we told them ok now or never they all had to decline.

No one was late to rsvp, but several people ended up changing theirs last minute which was even more frustrating.

Wow, that’s a lot. Luckily we didn’t have anywhere near 25%, just a handful of people. Some of who just never RSVPed and when asked they said, “Well you knew I would be there, why would I have to RSVP?!” Then why did I put a stamp on your envelope?
We did have a lot of RSVPs that came in the last few days before the due date and RSVPs that were postmarked on our due date but didn’t come in until a few days after, so hopefully that will be the case for you!

Only 60% of our guests replied by the deadline

ktrv927 : Almost half! I was floored. I ended up having to call/e-mail quite a few people to ask if they were coming or not. Then I had 8 people no-show.

Regretting having a late RSVP deadline hearing this.

About 40% of mine are late. Ugh.

I had about 12/15 or so of 65 who were late/I had to chase up. I did make the RSVP date 3 weeks before we had to give final numbers to the venue though as I knew some would need reminding.

Almost half! I was shocked. I’d heard other horror stories on here, but still somehow thought my guests wouldn’t be like that… alas, we were waiting on about 35 people out of 80 several days after our deadline, which was only a few days before we had to have final numbers and seating chart done for venue.
If I were to do it all over again, I wouldn’t put so much faith in guests to write yes or no on a card and put the pre addressed and stamped envelope in a mail box in time, and make more of a buffer between the RSVP date, and when I actually NEED them by. I mean, it all worked out in the end and everyone came, but the stress at the time was real.
