Depends on your height. I’m 5′ even and 5lb is one pant size. That would barely make a difference on someone 5’6.

it’s about 8 lbs between jean sizes (for me)  I’m 5’7

16/18 to 14/16 is one dress size (16 to a 14)

at least that’s how I think of it.  Smile

Take a look at the “what size dress what weight/height” thread (you’ll have to search for it) It has hundreds of responses and you can compare yourself to others in similar heights.

I’d say between 5 & 10 pounds depending on height, frame, and body type.

For me it’s 10-15, but I have big hips to begin with so its harder to go down sizes!

It’s so subjective it’s hard to say. A lot of it depends on your body type and how you carry weight.

usually around 7-10 for me, but it depends on where you’re starting.  are you at the low end of 16/18?  if so, then 5lbs might be enough to put you in 14/16.  if you’re at the higher end, then it will probably take more.  as an example, i went from 165 to 125, a 40 pound loss, and that took me from a size 12/14 to a 4/6.  now i hover around 130, and i’m still in the 4/6 range, so the 5lbs hasn’t pushed me up to the next size range.

It depends on your height and body type.

I’m 6’1″ and it takes about 20 pounds for me to go up or down a dress size.

I agree that it’s really subjective because we are all different heights and carry weight differently. I’m 5’5″ and carry my weight in my hips, so 5 lbs could be a pant size for me, but probably not for tops.

I’m 5’6″ and in decent shape.  5lbs is the difference between sizes for me (e.g. 130 = 4, 125 = 2, 120 = 0).

For me, it’s over 30lbs. I have lost over 60lbs and have only gone down 2 sizes. Again, it all depends on your weight and ratios. You should measure yourself, not look at the scale. Because often the scale wont move, but your inches will.

I am 5’1 and lost about 30 pounds, and went down 3 sizes, so that equates to 10 lbs for 1 size. Compare that to @techie who is about my height and says 5 lbs = 1 size for her. It really does depend on your body type. And for reference, I went from a size 4/6 to a size 00. I count that as 3 sizes (4–>2–>0–>00)

I should add that I went from a 16 to a 12 and I’m short. So, overweight. I lost most of my weight in my legs, arms, hips, and chest. I rarely lost from my stomach. So while my tops are more loose, they aren’t around the stomach and my pants stayed the same till I lost a lot of weight.
