@SaugaBride:  I plan on wearing only my original on my left hand ring finger. However, I’m not opposed to getting a new ring for another finger:) πŸ™‚

I don’t ever want an upgrade.  Hopefully I’ll never lose it or need a replacement.

@SaugaBride:  I’ve had my engagement ring for almost six years and my wedding ring for almost five, and both are my original settings and stones.

If we ever should find ourselves in a financial position for me to even consider upgrading, the jeweler where Darling Husband purchased my rings allows customers to trade in their center diamonds (for the price originally paid) toward the purchase of a larger/better stone.

If I ever considered upgrading my setting, I would have to keep my original setting for an RHR.  I would never want to part with that, since that is the ring with which my Darling Husband proposed.

I’m a little nervous about posting in here because I don’t want people to think I’m evil or something for upgrading. So, hopefully, you guys won’t think that — LOL! Before joining this forum, I never realized it could be a touchy subject, as I know many people IRL who have upgraded their wedding jewelry.

Anyhow, I do have an upgraded set. I have two engagement rings (original + upgrade) and then one upgraded diamond wedding band that I wear with the new Ring. My husband gave me the upgrade for a combined Christmas / 15 year anniversary gift this year (well, 2013).

Before I got my upgrade anniversary/”ERing”, I mostly wore plain silver wedding bands. I had two or three, and I switched them out depending on my mood. I hadn’t worn my original ERing in at least ten to fifteen years, due to different life circumstances. Plus, my metal bands were thicker, so my original ring would not go with them.

    Here is my “upgrade” set:

Married 26 years this year (I was a child bride haha) I’ve had more than I care to admit! I love bling! Think I’m done now…

I have had 3 different sets. But 1 set I was able to return 1 of them because the lack of quality really botherd me.

First pic: Original e-ring he proposed with and we agreed before hand that we would change it in the future.

Second pic: Darling Husband finally confessed that he never liked the round center stone and he really liked square ones. We then upgraded to a bigger stone (.75 to 1.16) but the cut and clarity really botherd me. We knew we both wanted purple in my set and orderd the band from Gemvara. The band ended up being to uncomfortable for daily wear. I was able to return this diamond with in 90 day return policy but I kept the band and wear it alone sometimes as a stand in.

Third pic: Smaller, (1.02) but much better cut and clarity square diamond, it came in as a solitaire and we ended up setting it in a different setting (I really missed the swirl design of the original ring) and I found a different diamond and amethyst band. The only way it would look good in this setting was to kite set it, which I like better anyway. I am keeping this set! The only way we will ever upgrade again is if Darling Husband decides to get me a bigger center stone. But I would not want any bigger than a 1.5ct

I wouldn’t try to upgrade the man who gave me the ring so why would I want to upgrade the ring? I’ve never understood that.

@SaugaBride:  I just have my original that Fiance proposed to me with on Christmas morning 2013. Currently,  I don’t have any desire or intentions of wanting an upgrade in the future.  I just want to bling, bling Daisy out with her two 1.0 ctw bands on each side of my ering.  HeHe.

We upgraded my centre stone from a 0.75 ct to a 1 ct diamond. Almost the exact same specs, but the upgrade diamond is a canadian and gia registered stone.  I love the look of my set sooo much more now. It’s perfect. I will never upgrade this set again, because a bigger diamond will wouldn’t fit properly. However, I would not be opposed to a upgrade for another finger or occassionally swapping out with this set πŸ™‚

@MrsSparkle10:  Lol! This is exactly what I have said to SO. We were talking about what we thought of ring upgrades, and we are both pretty sentimental and agreed we wanted the first ring to be “the ring” and I was like “but you can get me more rings for other rings down the road….” and he just laughed at me. Worth a shot! πŸ˜‰

The only upgrades I would consider are maybe a second wedding band and I would change the setting from white gold to platinum.

@SaugaBride:  I honestly didn’t know upgrading was a “thing” until the Bee!

However after proposing Fiance did say if I didn’t like it I could get something else BUT I love it.

At the moment I have no plans to upgrade right now I’m sentimental like that. Maybe waaaay in the future, and even then I would probably want to keep wearing my original ering on my right hand.
