We are having a 3 tier cake for 200 people. Not everyone eats cake and we are also doing a ice cream sundae bar 🙂

mandii555:  You should get a tiered cake that you like and can afford and then some sheet cake to subsidize for the rest of the guests. I was quoted under $500 for 175 people with a 3-tier cake and a sheet cake. Most bakeries will give you a really good price for the same cake but sheet.

I plan to ask a friend to make a small 2 tier cake (just for cutting/pictures, saving the top for our 1 year anniversary, and for our immediate family to eat at the wedding for $60) for the rest of the guests we plan to buy a couple of Costco’s slab cakes ($25 each that can feed 75 people easy) which the caterers will cut up in the kitchen and no one will ever know. 🙂

mandii555:  I would do a 4 or 5 tier cake depending if you wanted to keep one tier for your anniversary or not.

I would do 5 if you wanted to keep one layer for the anniversary
