None of mine have ever been hacked. I haven’t heard of anyone’s cards being hacked in years actually… I wonder if it’s the chip thing

Knock on wood, I’ve never been hacked in the decade plus that I’ve been using credit cards. I never use my debit card for this reason though. If someone wants to hack my card, I’d rather they do it on credit than take my actual money.
On average, it happens to me maybe once every couple of years. The bank does a great job of spotting the fraud, but I’m still a Luddite who likes to pay in cash because the hacking is such an annoyance.
geez.. I’ve only once noticed fraudulent charges. The bank asked me if I was absolutely sure I didn’t have a subscription to something in India. I was like “yeah, im 100% sure..” 😛
I guess I’ve been really lucky!
We had ours hacked after that whole experian leak business. But I am pretty sure someone was trying to use my bank account for money laundering. They transferred IN like $5000 and then changed all my log in and pins and such. The they bought like $50 worth of stuff like 8 states away. My bank was like…that doesn’t seem like a normal thing for you.
I also had my CC info stolen in college. The people who stole it were probably very disappointed by the like…$500 credit limit because it was just a little student card.
I use my credit cards almost exclusively and have only been hacked once and the bank caught it before I did.
A couple of years ago it happened three or four times in a row. Such a pain in the ass, but my credit card company was great about catching it. My favorite fraudulent charge was someone buying 100 World of Warcraft memberships…
The bank just called me yesterday to check on “suspicious activity” on my debit card. It was $6.49 that I spent online at 3 am. Ok, I have insomnia.
The punchline is that it happened five days ago. Great job.
The weirdest one was when we lived in California and I got charged for round trip tickets from London to Paris, and a rather large chunk of change at an upscale lingerie shop.
Dh’s checking account got hacked once. The thief used fake checks that looked like they were made by a grade school kid. How any bank employee put those checks through, I will never know. Nice to know who’s in charge of your money. I mean, these phony checks were just ridiculous. I wish I still had pics.
Knock on wood, but I’ve only been hacked once, on my debit card. Bank called and said I had suspicious activity, I denied the charges, and had the money bank in my account within a week. Actually a fairly easy process. I use my debit card for most things, but never enter my PIN at the store, I use it as ‘credit’ which I think is supposed to help against fraud. Luckily my credit card has never been hacked.
Yep probably 6+ times now. The bank has been pretty good about catching any fraudulent charges and I have caught them a few times as well. Luckily the charges were never that big so it wasn’t too much of a process to get them reversed.
It happened once and they were using my credit card to buy stuff on Apple store. They stole about $400 over a week.
Never.
And the only time I have ever been alerted to potential fraud…it was me. I just happened to be running a lot of errands in a short time span and stopped at a gas station I never go to (even though it isn’t far from my house) because I was riding on fumes and didn’t want to take a chance making it to one of my usual ones. That was enough to make my bank think something was off.
I’ve never had a card hacked but I did have my PayPal hacked about 12 years ago which took money from my bank account. It was someone buying virtual stuff like gaming things overseas. My password started with “a” and had a 1 at the end so pretty easy for the hacking programs to hit it. All my passwords are complex now! My Fiance had fraudulent charges his credit/debit card after we were on a short trip to another part of the state. It was used at a couple grocery stores. Had to have been an employee of one of two places he used it at. Actually I think that might’ve happened to him twice. So not hacked, but illegally used. People keep finding those skimmers on gas pumps and ATMs too, it’s probably just a matter of time till they get me.
