I’ve been driving for 26 years and I’ve been pulled over three times. Twice for speeding (once I got a ticket that I went to court to fight and the cop didn’t turn up so it was dismissed, the other time I just got a warning) and once for having a headlight out (I didn’t know and just got a warning.) All of those times were when I was under 22 years old (and I’m now twice that.)

I’ve been driving for four years and have been pulled over twice. Once was for not having my headlights on. I was in my dad’s truck and thought they were on the whole way but they weren’t. Whoops. I was so embarassed. I didn’t get a ticket or anything but the cop had to show me how to turn them on the whole way.

I also got pulled over for going 18 miles an hour over the speed limit, which should have been a $200 ticket and 4 points. Instead I got “failure to observe a posted sign” which is just a $50 fine and no points.

Oh, I forgot one, it wasn’t by cops though, it was campus security.  One of my headlights wasn’t working – I had the replacement with me, but it was too cold to work with it.  They hadn’t seen the other side of my car and thought both were out.

cls9q:  Here you can even get a ticket for a running a solid yellow light.  It’s the officer’s discretion if you should have stopped.

winstonchurchill:  Congrats on never going through a check stop?

Here, everyone gets pulled over, and there are also blitzes where all commercial vehicles get pulled over.  It doesn’t mean the driver did anything wrong.

cls9q:   I thought it was yellow when I started into the intersection the cop said it wasn’t. It’s totally possible I misjudged….but the $600 ticket still stung!

I’m a new driver, only had my full licence for 6 months (got my learners 3.5 years ago … about 10 years later than I could have gotten it legally ha). I’ve not been pulled over. I am guilty of being a little bit of a speed demon :/

cls9q:  3 times since you were 16?! That doesn’t seen that bad to me…but by the time I was 20 I had about 5 or more speeding tickets and a bunch others for other shit including wrecks and running over a stop sign. I had almost 20 points on my license at one time. I also got a super speeders ticket which ended up being about $1,000. But in the past 2 years I’ve only had 1 speeding ticket so I have to pat myself on the back for that one. So I suck a lot more than you do. Also the number of speeding tickets is probably wrong because it’s too many for me to remember.

cls9q:  that’s how I used to feel too! My boyfriend got an Infiniti last year and it’s a lot different than his old truck. Now he’s the one getting pulled over all the time instead of me!! I also got rid of my mustang convertible and now have a grandma Lexus SUV so that’s helped me a lot haha
