bmo88:  you’re not a “generally safe” driver if you’re driving down the shoulder of the highway on a regular basis.

In the 20 years I’ve had my license I was pulled over & ticketed once- i went through a stop sign that was obscured by an overgrown tree. But I’m pretty sure I drive like a granny and that is why I have a good driving record.

Horseradish:  Ok, I did it like 20 times over the course of a year. And it was 6 years ago. It was a small town, a lot of people did that. I have since moved to a different town and no longer do it. It was 50 yards in the shoulder going 10 miles an hours and I have never driven in the shoulder otherwise. But clearly you know my entire driving history/record and can judge from that. Did I say I was the absolute safest driver ever? No. I said, “generally safe” and I have been for the majority of my 10 year driving record. I hardly think that driving in the shoulder for a short period of time constitutes wildly unsafe driving.

Thanks for the judgement though, have a great day 🙂

cls9q:  the worst right?! The good thing is that they don’t count towards your license, but they add up!!

I’ve been driving since I was 17, and I’m 20 now, and I’ve never been pulled over yet. Hopefully I never will. I’m a pretty safe driver, so that’s probably why.

cls9q:  I totally know what you’re talking about when you say you space out and then you’re going over! That happens to me quite often, but luckily it’s not too far over and I catch myself quickly. I agree about the profiling. You probably were profiled. I live in Connecticut and everyone always warns if you cross over into one of the bordering states to be EXTRA careful because they love to give out tickets to out of staters. This is especially true I’ve heard in the deep south such as Georgia, Alabama, etc.. Even friends that live down there warn us that the police down there love to give out tickets to northerners.

cls9q:  I have only been pulled over once! and I only had my permit at that time… LOL I believe the speeding limit was 35mph and cop mentioned he clocked me at 55mph.. -_- it was an exit coming off from the freeway.. I was soooo bummed.. since then I haven’t had a ticket, I try to be extra careful and I’m always looking at my speed to be sure. On the other hand, my husband has been pulled over prob more then 3 times for speeding…

I’ve been driving for 11 years and I have been pulled over 3 times and got 2 speeding tickets. I also got another ticket one time as a passenger for not wearing my seat belt!

lawyerchick13:  I would have disputed that nonsense, and lodged a complaint against the incompetent pig.

You’d think the NYPD had bigger fish to fry…

cls9q:  Just once. As a stupid teenager, I got into the (ridiculously stupid and horrible) habit of putting on my seat-belt as I was firing up the car and rolling away. A cop once pulled alongside me as I began to fiddle with my seatbelt and ticketed me for “improper usage of a seatbelt”. $150 fine and I learned my lesson fast.

So embarassing, but I’ve been pulled over twice. I was in central London at the time, and I just didn’t realise how dark it was with all the streetlights.. so I didn’t turn my lights on in the car!

Got pulled over and had to apologise and explain. Never got a ticket though… they were honest mistakes on my part.

Been driving for over 10 years. I got a bus lane ticket once (completely unjust, in my view, but that’s another matter). Other than that… nothing.

Complete disclosure… over 10 years I have been:

– Pulled up twice (justified, if I’m honest) but not charged.

– Got away with speeding once.

– Charged with a bus lane ticket once (unjustified, IMO).

– Had three reasonably major car accidents, only one of which could conceivably, in any measure of the term, even partially be considered to be in any way my fault. I was stationary for one of them, and travelling at around 5MPH for the second, for starters…

eveline:  that’s cause atl is a huge drug city and there’s a lot of drug trafficing around these parts! My county is one of the worst in the state for pulling people over on 75!
