- Wedding: May 2013
A year before we planned on becoming engaged, we had several ideas of what our wedding might be like– we [informally] saw different venues and thought of them for our wedding. As the engagement drew closer (well, it still hasn’t officially taken place, but only because we are waiting on the stone to be set and shipped) we have had probably 5 solid plans, lol.
We picked a spot in a city an hour away– where neither of our families lived– because the spot was a world class brewery with an awesome atmosphere and a great price tag. But they didn’t allow a ceremony there, and so planning from an hour away on a budget from a city I’ve been to only once finding a site, etc. was just awful.
Soooooo, we began planning a backdoor tent wedding. After a month of planning I decided I didn’t like how much planning it involved. Lol. Only plan 3.
Well sure, I’ll just hold it at a nice classy venue and keep the count down, there will still be a minimum spending cost which is more than we really want, but it will be stress free and nice. Excpet its’ in the town I grew up in, which we don’t really like. And although it isn’t the same space as the first time around, and this time it would be outdoors, I already had a reception at that venue for my first marriage. Hm. Tacky.
Back to square one.
How about we just flipping take off to the court house, with the kids (from previous marriage~ we think it’s important for them to see a ceremony), then by ourselves take off to Mexico and spend all the money on us. No reception.
Ehhhh, it didn’t feel right though.
And I was getting REALLY frustrated. Everything was so expensive. We are on a big budget as we have 3 kids from my previous marriage to support and are both full time nursing students paying high tuition costs.
So here we are finally– with an off-beat venue that we actually put a deposit down on. It’s a nightclub 10pm and later, but can be rented during the hours it isn’t a nightclub, and it’s got a really urban feel to it, and is totally on par with our personalities. Not super fancy, but still classy. It’s in the city we now live in (moved here 6 months ago and LOVE it.) Were having 30 guests, and spending only around $1,100 catered (with GREAT 5 star food). We got a killer deal.
We’re excited now, and although we started with much higher “expectations” (ie LARGE guest list) we are way more excited with what we have decided on.
So, any other brides who have changed their mind a million times and annoyed everyone else who was helping them ?
