I went to two stores the same day 1st store I wasn’t liking anything I tried a lot of dresses on I don’t know how many. The second store like a lot of them came down to two picked one then looking at pictures decided I wanted the other dress went back tried both dress on and some others and ended up going with the other dress. There was one more store I was going to look at but they didn’t have appointment available that day. I think I was so stressed out about it that when I found something I liked I was done. The two dresses it came down to were very similar but I realized I didn’t like the beading on the one I originally picked and I kept wanting to change things about it to make it look like the other one but only after I got home and looked at all the pictures.

ebonyt93 : The first dress I tried on I feel in LOVE with! I honestly felt like tiy was my dress right away! However, I went back a second time to try it on with my mum, who absolutely hated it! That caused a bunch of issues for me, so I went in search of “how do you know you’ve found THE dress”.
I realized after doing lots of research and talking to other brides, that I was missing that ‘feeling’. I thought it was my dress, I looked beautiful and I loved it, but it didn’t speak to me.
I didn’t totally realize the feeling I was missing either, until I went shopping by myself. My mom insisted I go to other places, since she hated the dress I wanted. I tried on another dress and BAM! I just knew! I suddenly understood that feeling all other brides talk about.
For reference: all the vo8ices in my head that never shut the heck up, went quiet! it was like the whoel world went silent once I put it on. I looked at myself in the mirror and had the biggest smile on my face. I tried on 4 other dreses just to be sure, put the first back on and still just knew! I twirled in it for 15 minutes before I finally and reluctantly took it off.
All in all I must have tried… maybe 10-15 dresses before I foudn the one. I was so glad I kept shopping so I was able to find the most perfect dress!

I found mine at my second dress appointment, but didn’t buy it until the 3rd! I went to a David’s Bridal first and had an awful experience. The consultant just kept putting me in these huge ball gowns “because I was tall enought to pull them off” It was super frustrating. We finally got in a second consultant and she pulled a bunch for me so I could find the shape I wanted.
We then went to a more traditional bridal salon and I tried on close to 30 dresses. I was walking out of the store, not really finding anyting when my Future Mother-In-Law said “did you try on this??” I liked it and so I said I would try it on and that led to round 2 of dresses pulled! There were an additional 7-8 dresses pulled, but I would pull them up and then be like “yes” or “no” and if they were a no, I wouldn’t even show the entourage (mom, Future Mother-In-Law, FSIL). As they were pulling up my dress I was looking down thinking “no way, this is way too much lace” but when they pulled it up, I looked in the mirrow and got “the feeling” (my first thought was “this is the dress I’m going to marry (fiance) in”). It was so far off from what I wanted that I couldn’t make a decision that day (I was also frustrated with Future Sister-In-Law and I know her presence stopped me from making my purchase).
So I found another shop that had my dress, but was a little more high end. I got the full “experiece” there where she pulled things for me off of my direction. I tried on things I thought I liked, and then she would put me in “my” dress, and we all (consultants, me, my mom) forgot about the other one! This went on a few times and my mom was finally like “that is just your dress, stop fighting it!” even the consultant was like “I can see why you like this dress, it is so beautiful on you”. They were actually having a trunk show that weekend, so I got an additional % off my dress, which was just the icing on the cake!
In all I probably tried on just shy of 50 dresses.

I went with my mum with the plan to just have a look and definitely not buy as it was the first time going to a wedding dress shop and it was way out from the wedding, tried on about 5 dresses fell in love with one and ended up ordering it, a belt and veil. Anyone who knows me knows I am an extremely indecisive person and I’m shocked how easy it was to find this dress, it must be the one lol. They’ll be in the store in a few weeks and I am so excited no dress regrets 😊

Thanks everyone for the responses! I feel so much better knowing that so many ladies found their dress the first time as well! Now I just have to wait for my baby to come back. The consultant quoted 6-9 months.

I almost went with a dress I found at the first store I went to, but I had a nagging feeling that despite it being really beautiful, it just wasn’t the one. I went to another store about a week later and found my dress .. dresses actually. We are having a wedding for my family overseas as well. I did not expect it to be this easy at all. I am very picky with what I like and expected I might actually have to resort to some online shopping.

I also went with the first dress I tried on. I had gone to that shop specifically to try that dress. I tried on several others there and at another botique, but I knew I wanted the first dress all along!

amp0803 : My experience sounds A LOT like yours! I went to at least 8 different bridal salons and tried on tons of gowns before choosing one. It’s funny because I originally wanted a silhouette and style different than the one I ended up choosing. My Mom thinks it’s because I tried on a ton of the same styles, that it was refreshing to have something different on, which I ultimately loved in the end. I’ve been waiting for the dress almost 4 months now, and should be receiving it within the next 2! 😊

I probably went to about 12 different salons (one twice) and tried on about 40 gowns.
