@MrsAKSkier:  Pennsylvania. I had awesome health insurance so I suspect that had something to do with it.  Thanks to Obamacare, I now have crappy health insurance so I’m not sure if now my care would be so extensive. But I honestly can’t say it was necessary. Seriously, after month 6, all the ultrasound pics look the same.  I literally have reems of them.

I’ve had 6 so far (I’m 40 weeks 2 days so I might have another at my next appt since I’m overdue).  I had a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks, NT scan at 12 weeks, anatomy scan at 20 weeks, one to check position at 36 weeks, another making sure she was still in position and things were progressing at 38 weeks, and then one more at 39 weeks because they were concerned that she was too big.  I have had a really textbook pregnancy so far with no complications.  I thought I really would just have the first 3 ultrasounds and was suprised by all these ones at the end.

@MrsAKSkier:  OK. I haven’t had a dr’s appt yet so I’m not sure what my schedule will be like, but I was told I wouldn’t have an ultrasound until 20 weeks also, and was heartbroken because I would obviously want to hear a heartbeat well before that. I’m hoping I’ll get an opportunity for a dopplar then. 🙂 Thanks, you’ve made me a little more hopeful!

I’m having my 5th on the 16th (that sound excessive for a first pregnancy). Doctors office did an 8w dating ultrasound, one at 12w, NT scan at 13, anatomy scan at 20w & a follow up at 31w to check on the position of my placenta (it’s been low my entire pregnancy). I did not expect to have this many (yes the NT scan was optional) but the other ones have all been “routine” per my health care provider. I think the standard is 1 u/s at 20w (I’m not sure why my doctors office does so many early on).

I had one at 7 weeks, 20 weeks, 24 weeks and will have one each time I see my OB because she has an u/s machine in her office. She prints pics and videos for us every time we go- she is awesome! So in total I will have more than 6.

I had one at 12 weeks and will have one at 21 weeks. I think if you’re having a complication free pregnancy, 1 or 2 ultrasounds are fine.

Only 1: The anatomy scan at 20 weeks. At this point, unless something really weird happens before/while I go into labour, I’m pretty sure there won’t be any more.

I think my doctor does one every visit. Even when I went in for the 7 week She did one to confirm viability and I went in a week later for my ‘routine’ 8 week U/S (dating scan). I’m not even over 35.

@MrsAKSkier:  I thought I’d only have one (anatomy scan) but they found so,ething they were concerned about eurong that ultrasound so they ordered me what ended up to be three more (for monitoring).

Due to my previous history of an ectopic, being on fertility drugs, and the chance of twins, I had early ultrasounds at 5 and 7 weeks. Then my Dr. does a standard one at 9ish weeks, the NT scan at 12 weeks, gender scan at 15w and finally an anatomy scan at 20w. Standard at my office would have been 9w(dating), 12w if you want an NT scan, and 20w anatomy.

So far I’ve had a dating scan at 6+2, 13week scan, 20 week anatomy scan, and a 3D at 16 weeks. I plan to do another 3D around 28-30 weeks. It’s more then is ideal, but it’s what has worked for us. Next time around I will likely do it a bit differently.
