We’re in the same boat! Thanks.

Wow, I’ve already had lots by comparison. I’m nearly 12 weeks and have had 2, my next one is this morning. I had a dating scan at 6w 2d (thought I was 8w), my OB did an u/s in her rooms at 8w and now I’m having my NT scan this morning. My next scan will be at the end of the month when I see my OB again, and then every month after that as part of our regular appointments. I’ll have the usual 18-20w anatomy scan on top of that too. I think I’m unusal (or perhaps usual for NZ?!) from what everyone else has said. But I’m super glad for the reassurance, it helps calm my anxious mind!

Hello, fellow July mom 🙂 I think that if I’d gone with an OB I’d have three, one at 8 weeks, one at 12 and one at 20. I’m (hopefully) going to give birth at a birthing center with a midwife and they are more hands-off and only do the one unless you opt for the NT scan. Luckily I’m pretty relaxed (well, most of the time) so I suppose this will work for me, although I do feel impatient and I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing our baby in 8 weeks (but who’s counting haha). Hearing the heart beat was more reassuring than I expected it to be, it made me feel much more confident. See you in the July boards!

My mom only had one when she was pregnant with me. I’m not pregnant yet, but when I spoke to my midwife about it, she said only one was required.

I had an emergency one at 7w4d to check for ectopic because I got extreme cramps, but things were fine. My next was at 20w4d. I’m currently at 38w2d and there don’t seem to be anymore U/S on the horizon.

Whether unltrasounds are dangerous when done often is still being researched, so you should really only have those that are medically necessary. You will get another if you do an NT scan at about 12 weeks. Otherwise, it’s often just the one anatomy scan towards the middle.
