On my insurance I usually get 3. Unless there is a problem. I went to a pregnancy clinic that gave one free one to get my first one at 6 weeks I think.
I had my first doctor one at 9 weeks, then I’ll have my 20 week on (oct 10th!! to find out what it is), then I get one more I’m not sure when.

I had one at 13+4 (my NT screening/Harmony Panel), and will have my anatomy ultra at 18+4! I think I get one more after that, but that’s it! I’m ultra-low risk.

@pittgirl4: I am high risk. I have had them every 2 weeks throughout my pregnancy (21w now).
The big ones were: 12w NT scan
16w early anatomy scan
20w anatomy scan
21w fetal echo
28w growth scan scheduled
I’m not sure if the every 2 week will continue since baby has a clean bill of health after the last 2.

I’ve had a lot because of we’re having twins, and they wanted to monitor them more closely for growth and/or abnormalities. Normally in the UK, though, you get two scans; one at 12 weeks and another at 20. My scans happened at:
6 weeks (to rule out ectopic because of cramping)
8 weeks (viability scan to see if twin 2 was going to make it)
12 weeks (NT, growth)
16 weeks (quick checkup)
20 weeks (anomaly scan)
24 weeks (growth scan)
28 weeks (growth scan)
32 weeks (growth scan)
36 weeks (growth and positioning scan prior to induction/c-section at 37 weeks)

12 weeks – ultrasound for down syndrome testing
19 weeks – gender ultrasound
I’m only 22 weeks now, when I asked I was told that would be it for ultrasounds so long as everything progressed normally.

Thanks for all the input bees!! :). What’s an NT scan?
Nuchal translucency. It’s the screening they do for Down’s syndrome.

I will have an 8 week dating, 12 week NT (elective) and 20 week anatomy scan. Not sure after that though. Im still deciding on a 16 week elective gender scan. i want to keep u/s to a minimum but also am dyinggggg to know gender, especially since we were given a guess at my NT scan.

I had ultrasounds at:
-8 weeks (to confirm dates were correct, as my cycles are pretty irregular)
-12 weeks; NT scan
-19 weeks; anatomy/gender ultrasound
-20 weeks; US tech had to finish the rest of the measurements for anatomy scan, as our baby was being a little uncooperative. 😛
-24ish weeks? I had a NST done because of decreased movement, and they did a quick ultrasound for my piece of mind. Found out he was frank breech at this time.
-38 weeks; this was a realllly quick ultrasound my OB did, because she suspected he was still frank breech, which he was.

I went for my first appt yesterday and it looks like we’re going to get 8 weeks and 20 weeks, unless something goes wrong…

We had one at 8 was, 10 wks, 12.5 wks, 15 wks and I have one today to find out gender at 17 was (not @doctor offic) then I will have my 20 wk scan and ill likely do an elective 3d at some point. We enjoy seeing our babe… It’s reassuring!

I only get 2 unless there is something they are concerned about. So one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks.
I am only scheduled to have 1 at 20 weeks to determine the sex.

They do three at my doctor’s office…more if you have issues. I have had so far…
9 weeks–transvaginal ultrasound for dating purposes (routine)
13 weeks–because they couldn’t find the heartbeat on the doppler–scared the bejesus out of me
Then I’ll have the anatomy scan at 20 weeks and then one ultrasound towards the end of my pregnancy. There’s plenty of extra ones they do but they are all optional unless you are high risk.
