We looked at 4-5 I think. We ended up booking the first place we visited though. We saw the others just because we had an appointment to see each of them on that day.

We went to one. We went with the idea of let’s check it out and get more info not really exspecting it to be in our price range and it actually was and turned out to be the best option so we didn’t need to look at other locations. I emailed a lot of places and had an idea of what the average cost was they weren’t more or less and were very open about their fees no hidden prices so we just went for it. I think you can do a lot of your legwork online emailing places looking at pictures and videos and online reviews. You should be able to narrow it down to few and see what you like. 5 sounds like a lot unless they are all very different types of venues. But if your looking at the same type ex garden or ballrooms they just start to blend together.

None, really.  I’d known exactly where I wanted my ceremony and reception to be for years – ceremony at the big church on top of the hill (where I was baptized – nice coincidence, mostly) and then the reception at the social club across the way where my dad is a member.  They were both very familiar places so no need to tour them before booking.  We did float the idea of alternate reception venues but I never saw any of them in person because we ended up with the original plan.

  • Wedding: November 2018

We went to about 12 and I was adamant I had made my decision and wanted to get married in September. We narrowed it down to 3 venues and took my family to view them at the end of November, fell in LOVE with another venue which had an amazing christmas tree up and booked that there & then for an end of November wintry/christmas wedding!

Definitely go and view it, if anything it may confirm you’ve made the right choice with the original venue, but if not you’ll constantly be thinking “what if”. You’ll end up comparing everything at your venue now to how it would be at this other venue which you will have painted as superior in your mind. Go without him if he doesnt want to go, if you love it, make him go back with you. Its an important day, important decision, and a huge chunk of your budget so making sure the venue is perfect to you is really important!

Only saw 1. My only pick. Fiancee is too busy with a complicated schedule to see anymore together. Booked with amazing package that includes A LOT. All we have to worry about are decor and outfits.

One. We had been there for a meal previously, it was both of our first choice, and when we visited they offered us a great deal, so we went with it.

sapphire27 :  Same here! We had been to the area and that location multiple times, but had never checked out the wedding aspect of it. Our first choice couldn’t hold the ceremony and reception until late at night, so we opted for choice two.

missrouse :  For us we knew we were getting engaged, and knew we wanted to get married at a vineyard (LOVE wine).

A few weeks before we got engaged we spent a few days over the long weekend visiting a bunch of wineries in the Swan Valley (FI driving, me draaaaaanking). There was one that really stuck out for us – not only was the wine wonderful, but the grounds were STUNNING. Beautiful gazebo on water for the ceremony, lush fields, rolling hills (particularly impressive considering the Swan Valley is super duper flat). We booked them in the minute we got engaged, knowing they were the winner.

All in all I think we saw 10-12 venues? But not like we were looking for a wedding at the time…it just kind of worked out that way.

The number 9 is sticking out to me, but I can only think of 5 when I try to list them all, so somewhere between 5 and 9. The first one is the one we went with. I liked it the most all along. My (then) fiance insisted that we look at other options before he would agree that it was the best.

2. I looked at a lot online and then got quotes. Best responses + cost and we saw 2 venues.

We ended up seeing 5 in person. We picked the 3rd one we saw. It was really close between the 3rd and 5th venues. They were both so different but with great things to offer.

I got pricing for probably 10-20 via email, some were just way too much
