FH and I toured our first wedding venue today! We’re quite a ways out from our wedding and planned on spending from now until summer just gathering ideas, but we both fell in love with this place! The price, size, and location are perfect for our 30-40 person morning wedding and brunch reception. FH thinks we should stop looking but I’ve got a couple more options I’d like to check out before we put down a deposit.
I was just curious how many venues other future brides and grooms toured before you made a decision? Did it take you a while to find the perfect place? Did you know right away after you toured your venue that it was the one?

One, but we were limited on venues due to our budget and the fact that only a few beach houses even allow you to rent them for weddings in the area we wanted to get married.

It took us longer than expected, because I’d been venue dreaming for ages and had a solid short-list. I did not anticipate DH having as much input and preference as he did… so that changed things up a bit. I think we went to 4, before realizing that our venue had everything we wanted/needed.
Visiting different venues helped us realize what we wanted or didn’t want (ie: my dream venue with too much outside noise, the venue we’d have to coordinate rentals, the venue that had beautiful architecture, but was not being maintained well, the venue that allowed outside alcohol, etc.)

I looked at over 20 but NJ is wedding factory so some towns have 5-6+ venues!

I voted 0. I’m a photographer (portrait and wedding). I shot multiple times at this one place and fell in love with it. Showed it to Fiance and he did too.

I think I looked at more than 10.
I am a skinflint perfectionist, and those two things don’t coexist very easily in the wedding world.

Fiance and I looked at well over 5 venues before we decided. The funny thing is, the one we decided on was really an after thought. I added it to our list because it didn’t look bad and was fairly close to near another venue we planned to look at

We were out of town planning, so in one weekend, we saw three venues. We fell in love with one immediately, but it was pricey, so we didn’t know if we could do it. We sent my dad off to see one other venue because we couldn’t go (the out of town part), but he hated it. DH and I decided if we were going to do it, we were going to do it. We booked our dream venue and never looked back.

I think we looked at 7 or 8. We had a long list of things that we “had to” have (outdoor ceremony, indoor reception, everything in one place, handicap accessible, etc).

We looked at 9 but ours was number 7 and we just compared the last 2 venues to the one we fell in love with.

We checked out a total of 7, and out of those the last one won! So I guess you could say it was the “lucky number 7” lol…went with my mom first, and quickly fell in love. Took Fiance and he liked the food (which was important to him), and the ambiance!

We’re getting married in NJ, and looked at about 10 different places. We ended up with the first place we looked at, which we fell completely in love with from the beginning! I’m really glad we looked more though, it put everything in perspective really well.

15! I was having way too much fun with it.

Only the one! I knew of the place before getting engaged and had mentioned it to my mom. As soon as we got engaged, my mom called and made an appointment for a couple weeks later to check it out. DH’s jaw dropped when he saw it. Everybody fell in love. We could afford it. My dad ran to put down the deposite immediately. Never even searched online for another place.

Technically we didn’t visit any.
My husband and I picked our venue from 1,200 miles away. I just knew the place I wanted and we went with it.
