I went through two different themes/color schemes. First we were going to have a traditional Chinese wedding with red and gold but then we decided to do a destination wedding with a romantic garden theme in lilac, green, white, and periwinkle.

I’ve always known what my colors would be….brown, ivory and pink.

I always knew that we’d have a beach wedding so having a classical nautical theme of white & navy was a given. I threw very small amounts of pink into the mix with flowers.

Fiance and I have the same favorite color, so it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Before we were actually engaged I had a ton of different ideas floating around and changed my mind about a billion times! But once we actually started concretely planning things, I knew we just had to pick something, so I settled on white and gold. But then I decided I liked rainbow too, so now we have some rainbow elements to our white and gold! So we more “added” than changed. But @OP, I completely understand how a long engagement would make you keep changing your mind–mine’s not that long (only 10 months) so I knew I just had to make a decision. But there are so many amazing inspiration boards out there!

so far only had one mind change, and that was because he didn’t like the initial idea, and i started to not like it either, for years i have thought of having a red and white wedding – red bridesmaid dresses, red and white roses for my bouquet, etc. now we are going to have a blue and purple wedding (with touches of white of course) – blue is his favourite colour and purple is mine, so i think this colour scheme will stick, it represents us 🙂

Lol, maybe because we’ve had a relatively short engagement, or maybe because the theme was a given (Beach Wedding / Southern Honeymoon), but I’ve only had one list from the beginning for my Theme and Colours…

Wedding Theme = Surf & Shore

Wedding Palatte = Sea & Sand

Colours (pictured top to bottom) = Sea Glass – Sea Blue – Ocean – Wave – Sand – Golden Champagne – Creamy Candlelight – Surf & Shore

My colors have been green, white and silver with touches of pink from the beginning. However, I’ve waffled back and forth about what shades of those colors to use. I started off with pastels, moved to dark muted tones, and now I’m on to brights. I still have a year so we’ll see where things end up!

I always knew that I wanted a teal blue and navy color theme, because I LOVE that combination. However, it evolved from a very simple two color choice, into being Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” it’s one of my favorite paintings, and obvi those colors are in it, but so are indigo, deep purple, and then kind of gold for the stars/moon. Also, I’m getting married at sunset and outside, so the reception is (hopefully) during a starry night! So then my ceremony colors evolved to include more “sunset” colors. I guess I took inspiration from the literal haha.

    1. Started with sage and purple, then I saw pictures of an acquaintance’s wedding, who had the same colors.  I don’t like this person much, but I knew she’d see pictures at some point and say OOh, those were my colors too!  Sooo, no.

    2. So we went to sage and light blue, the colors that happened to be on the invitation.

    3.  Then I had a crisis and decided I like lime and teal more, the inspiration boards with those colors are divine.  But then I decided those weren’t summery enough, too springy.

    4.  Back to sage and light blue, and it better stay that way because I’ve got only 3 weeks left.

That whole thought process took about a month.
