Ok, I’m posting this again with a poll and maybe that will work better 🙂
Also, donnaaries brought up some good thinking points.
We’re doing self-serve kegs, wine, and “signature drink”. We will use the nice, thick clear plastic disposable cups for the keg and signature drink.
I want real wine glasses, but am really unsure of how many to buy. I will be gathering the glasses at the local thrift store for 25 cents (much cheaper than renting!)
There will be ~130 guests and of course not everyone will be drinking wine. But, do you think the drinkers will use the same glass or get a new one each time?
We won’t have a caterer, so that’s a non-issue. I actually was thinking about this… we went to eat at Arby’s yesterday and even though the cups they give you have lids and straws, you refill the one you already have….
The wine will be dispensed from boxes (yes, we’re getting wine boxes, lol!) so that might make it more “health conscious”.

Bah one vote… where’s the hive today?!? It isn’t Monday still is it?

I don’t know about this because I would re-pour into the same glass at home and at a restuarant, the waiter would repour if you order a bottle of wine so one makes sense to me. However, if there’s a bar full of glasses lined up and my glass is on a table and I’m on the dance floor near the bar, I would take a new glass instead of trying to find my abandonded glass.
We rented wine glasses and had them pre-set at everyone’s places and put bottles of wine in the middle of each table. The bar had plastic footed wine glasses so you could either bring your glass from your seat to the bar for a refil or get a new glass each time you went to the bar. Maybe you could do something similar so you only need one glass per guest but have some back up glasses discretely located in case people lose track of theirs.
Alternatively, buy a lot of different looking wine glasses, put wine charms on them and use them as place cards/favors and everyone will keep the same glass all night! Oh, this is my final answer.

@slicey19: AH! Great idea about letting guests take the wine glasses home. I was wondering what the heck I’d do with them anyway! Perfect. One per person plus extra plastics. You are awesome, smart, and I’m sure beautiful too 🙂 Thank you!!
