I’ve been told by my midwife that I can book my next ultrasound either 19 or 20 weeks to find out the gender. Our plan was to have the ultrasound tech write down the gender, put it in an envelope and open on our first wedding anniversary (which happens to land right in between the 19th & 20th week)
I am wondering how far along were you when you found out?
I also know that there’s a chance they may not be able to tell me…anyone have that happen, and have to go back?

@clinique: They told me a 75% chance at 12 weeks and we found out it’s forsure a girl at 14 weeks last Friday.

just over 20 weeks, but that’s when we get our first ( and often ) only ultrasound.

Our official gender scan is scheduled for the 19th-20th week, but we just had our 12 week/NT scan and the OB and U/S tech are 99.9% of the gender. According to them, it’s pretty clear we’re having a boy. In our photos/scan, it is quite clear but I expect that this isn’t always the case.

My mom was 12 weeks but she got to know early because she was considered a geriatric pregnancy (she was 39) and so the doctor recommended an amniocentesis. With an amnio you get a chromosome chart so we just peeked at set 23 and sure enough it was “XX” for a girl. She did an US later just to see the “bits and pieces” but chromosomes rarely lie about sex.
