Just a vent –
I was on FB the other day and up pops FB chat window with this girl I haven’t seen in ages. A sister of a friend. The first thing she says? “when’s the wedding (congrats btw)”. I know that shouldn’t annoy me, but it does. I guess it would be nice for people to just be happy for Fiance and I rather than jockeying for a invite. Though stepping back from the situation, it’s a perfectly innocuous comment. Having so many people invite themselves (“I’m so excited for your wedding” “I better be getting an invite!”) is just really getting on my nerves. Especially since the majority of my guests are family members…
Thanks for letting me vent.

I know what you mean! Our wedding is going to include close and good friends, but Lord, not EVERYBODY! I just started thinking the other day, when talking with nonclose friends and acquiantances, how will I handle when they either ask jokingly if they’re invited or say they ‘can’t wait! for the wedding. Ummm, they’re not invited! What do you say???

It is annoying but that particular comment doesn’t strike me as an invite. Just a question about your date. I would ask co-workers or slight acquaintances that wedding without a second thought (or a thought about being invited). Maybe I’m rude. eeek!

Someone posted on my wall, “Congrats Miss Tattoo!!! Let me know when the date is so I can make it into town!!!” O_O Really? I haven’t spoken to this person for a few years!

@heather25: Oh no, you’re not rude at all! I think all the planning (wedding, moving, graduation, Christmas planning) is making me more emotional than necessary. Asking about the date is perfectly normal and I realize that. If I hadn’t been getting semi-rude comments from others and been so stressed, maybe this wouldn’t have affected me as much as it has.
I had one Girlfriend (who is a long time friend) not answer my calls (I wanted to let her know before FB status change) or return them. Then she didn’t congratulate me on FB though she posted on other stuff I put there. When I finally got ahold of her via text, the first thing she said was, “OMG am I going to be a bridesmaid?”
Excuse me? What happened to congratulations on starting a new life with the man you love? And where the hell have you been all this time?

@SthrnBelle: Lol, you are definitely on edge :o). That’s okay, though, we’ve all been there!
