So I have been trying to get our budget in order and we were having a difficult time trying to figure out what to do for our wedding favors. We talked about it and we have decided to donate to a charity for the rare genetic syndrome that my niece has for the favors. So, my question is how much is appropriate to donate? I’m sure donating anything would be great but I am really lost as to how much. We are having about 100 guests at our wedding and we are on a pretty tight budget. However, I do not mind “splurging” a little on this. What do you bees think?
Also, anyone have any creative ideas on how to let the guests know that this is our wedding favor(poems, cards)?

With a tight budget I would probably assign $5-$10 per person (since you said you were willing to splurge a little). I think this is an absolutely FANTASTIC idea, as from what I’ve read, regular favors aren’t really necessary, so no one will miss it and they will appreciate what you are doing. I was on a super tight budget and spent a total of about $50-$60 on favors for 100 people. So if your budget is as tight as mine was, you could probably just do a lump sum, like $300 for everyone and then leave cute little stationary for each person that says “In lieu of favors, a donation for __________ has been made in your honor.” Include a description of the organization and be less specific about the amount.
