Wow, that does seem high. To get married at our church there is no fee, but everyone always donates to the church, usually around $300-400.

We’re paying $675 for our church.

That is crazy!  Most churches around here allow their members to marry for free, with the request of a donation.

I find it sad when churches REQUIRE you to pay , donation is one thing. I opted out of the church and am getting married at my Venue.. Ceremony was included in the package

I paid $100 and I will make a donation as well.  Are you a member of that church?  Sometimes that makes a difference.

Im not getting married in a church, but the ceremony and reception is in the same place. The room for the ceremony is $130 amd the reception room fee is waived if we meet the food and beverage minimum.. $900 seems a bit high to me tho.

My celebrant is costing me $650, which here seems mid range.  I looked at a few (mainly because no one wanted to do a friday wedding) and they seemed to range from $450 to around $1200.

We are holding the ceremony in a park, which will cost as nothing.  However, some of the more popular parks in the City such as the large Fountain, or the Rotunda cost upwards of $500 depending on the day you want to book at the time of year.

However, I am not having a church wedding, so for me its hard to compare.

Do you have an itemized list of what things cost? We did. That may help you/us understand where the cost is coming from.

Does that maybe include any extras, like an aisle runner or candelabra? I’m just trying to think of the other things that we paid for. Are you requesting any extra time at the church for getting ready or for photos or anything like that?

@ffemt: Maybe it’s because of the classes? Mine is $450 without prep classes

If you’re getting the classes too I dont think that price is too bad. My prist was explaining to me that they have to charge now due to having to pay the organist, and in my case, the church bell ringers and so on. Some of the money goes towards a donation to the church so I’m totally ok with it.

Wow, that’s a steep price. I’m a member of my church, so there is no cost to me (nor any requested donation) so I am not sure what the going rate is.
