Hi bees! I’m in South Jersey and have been calling DJ’s this week and getting quotes and info. I’m having a 4 hour reception and probably ceremony on site. I’m not interested in a light show or video montages, or even up lighting. Just some basic service with personality. Prices are ranging from $575-$1500!!!!!!
So, what are you paying???? And if you’re a DJ, then whay would I pay you extra to play music at specific times?? (i.e. bridal party announcements, introductions) And why would I pay extra for “props” when I can buy my own for a few bucks??? These prices are ridiculous!

A DJ for the Minneapolis area is anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000. We are paying just shy of $1,200 for ours and that is with a discount for the DJ being a friend of mine .

Getting married on long island and we are paying $850 for a pianist for the ceremony and cocktail hour and Dj for the reception. There are some great deals out there if you know where to look for them.

We got lucky and are only paying $600 on account of the fact that it’s a friend of Fiance. He typically charges more.

Thanks for the info everyone! for what I’m looking for, $575 is on target, even up to $650. But some of these guys (who are all balding and shockingly single 🙂 act like they’re the best thing since sliced bread, like they will be using my wedding to be the center of attention. Um, it’s our day, not yours buddy. There’s a right and a wrong way to create a fun atmosphere and not become annoying on the microphone! I just don’t think that $1500 is reasonable for this service!
