I have contacted several companies. The big uplighting/decor company in St.Louis(Exclusive Events) quoted me $996 for 15 colored uplights.
My DJ company(Complete Music) quoted me $1095 for 15 colored uplights.
Should I keep shopping around? I really want to keep it under $1000, my budget won’t allow for anything more.I REALLY want pinspots but don’t think my budget will allow for it.
How much are you paying for your lighting?

I just got married on September 10th, on the IL side at Scott Air Force Base. I contacted a few of the bigger companies for uplighting and was quoted a HUGE price that I did NOT want to pay.
I ended up renting uplighting through Grand Rental in Farview Heights, IL. The cost per uplight was $10-15 a piece (I can’t remember the exact cost). Uplighting in full was less than $200. We purchased the color films from Swing City Music over in Collinsville, IL.
Here is a picture, not the best, but you get an idea-
Sometimes DIY stuff is a pain, but well worth a potential $800 or more!
Good luck! 🙂

Holy moly! That’s a lot. We’re getting uplighting through our DJ. The total for 16 uplights and the DJ himself is $1200, and he’s doing the ceremony and reception-5 hours.

I think we are paying $250 for 10 uplights in Dallas. $1000 seems a little high but I guess every area is different.

4 lights were included in my pkg, but I needed an additional 22 lights. Which was $50 per light, a total of $1100 extra for uplighting.

Just checked my contract and I am paying $695 for a total lighting package that includes 12 lights.

@BrideE: o, wow. Thank you SO much for suggesting them. I am checking out their website right now! My Fiance was dead set on MAKING them, but I was concerened about fire hazards and that our venue may not allow that. But $15 each would be PERFECT!
$1000 for uplighting just seems so much to me, since our cake, my dress, our ceremony venue, photobooth, EVERYTHING except for food, reception venue and photographer are all less than that,

I’ve seen people selling them in the classifieds- you can buy cheap ones then resell them- you can either get programmable ones (you have to use the buttons on the back to set the color) or you can get white ones and buy gels. You can buy these pretty cheap, get a decent amount for $20 then resell and get your money back 🙂

Our DJ/Lighting guy (Who we LOVE) charges $60/LED. We are only using 4 for the outdoor ceremony! He told us a minimum of 16 would be needed for the tent…we cant afford that. But the wedding will go on! =) Best of LucK!
