I have been getting quotes from photographers for our wedding next summer and my fiance seems to think that anything over $400 is too much money to pay for a photographer. I tried telling him that there is no way we are going to get a wedding photographer for under $1000. What are you paying for your photographer and how much coverage are you getting?

$2350, engagement pics included, 2 shooters, full day (10-12h). No prints or albums, which we’ll do on our own after.

We have an amazing photographer that will travel three hours away to our beach wedding and do 7 hours of photography for $1500. My fiance thinks this is a lot of money, but really its an amazing deal. How do I convince him?

It can vary, we live in a fairly expensive area so the average here is about $2500 – $4000. Our photographer offers small event packages with reduced hours so we chose one since our event is only five hours total. One photographer, high resolution digital files with printing rights, online proofing and photo album for $1200. Maybe you need to compile a short list of photographers prices and let your fiance see it. Or better yet have him do some of the work researching and find out for himself.

it sounds like a great deal. Get more quotes, to show him. FH only wanted to pay $1000 for ours, once I started getting quotes (ranging up to $6500) he agreed the one I wanted was a steal at $2000.

we paid about $5k (and that was with a referral discount). 10 hours of coverage – but he stayed and shot for 11 – threw in a second shooter for free. price included hotel room for 2 nights. got 1500 hi res digital pics, and of course his talent. he was truly truly truly talented. fwiw, i’m in nyc but our photog was from philly – so still a HCOLA but we’d have paid at least $7k in nyc for the same quality and coverage.

I think I paid about $650 for mine. That was just for 4 hours of wedding day coverage. We managed to fit the ceremony, bridal photos, cake cutting, and first dance into that, so it worked out great for us. She was a college student but her photography is a beautiful. She was local too, so we didn’t have to pay for her lodging or travel, which is helpful.
$1500 for 7 hour coverage of a destination wedding sounds amazing, as long as you like his work!

I’m in Seattle, paying $2k for unlimited wedding time plus engagement photos and editing.

I paid mine $1500, BUT he was a friend who also happens to be a professional photographer. He told me when he started doing wedding photography professionally that he wanted to shoot my wedding whenever I got married, so obviously I had him do it. He normally charges much more than he charged me. I think $1500 for someone who’s traveling to you is a great deal!

$2100 for 8 hours of coverage and the edited digital files. $1500 sounds like a great deal!

Including taxes, we paid 1700 for 1 photographer for 8 hrs on the wedding day (about 400 edited pictures), engagement shoot (50 edited pictures), and print releases for all of those pictures.
