katiemc28 :  $2000 for an engagement shoot and a full day (unlimited hours which is insane!), one shooter, full rights to all pictures, but no prints.

This is actually a REALLY good deal in my city as our photographer does it because he genuinely loves it and it isn’t his main job. We lucked out and found out about him by word of mouth (he was also the photographer for 2 weddings we’ve gone to). Typically around here you’d be looking at about $2500-$3000 for a decent photographer for maybe 8-10 hours.

Ours is 3900 euros (about ~$4600) but that includes the engagement session, getting ready shots, complete reception coverage (till 2 am), a second photographer, online gallery with hi-res photos, same-day slideshow, an album and 2 mini albums for our parents.

I love our photographer – he was so great with our engagement photos and I loved the sneak peek he gave us — I’m glad we spent the extra money and went with the one that I liked best. When I got quotes it was around $2.5K – $6.5K for the 5 photographers I was looking at.

I will say you get what you pay for, so $400 seems almost too good to be true. You can’t re-do your photos if you don’t like them or if someone amateur takes them – my friend paid $1.6K and had a terrible experience – not that you can’t get good photography for cheap, I’m sure you can. Just as you can get bad photography for a lot of $, but if you are considering something cheap, I’d see if they can do an engagement shoot so you can see what you’re working with and have time to change prior to the wedding.

paid $3,000 for the entire day and recieved all my photos…over 2,000 with rights to print any and all.  Around 200 were “touched up.” He was there from 11 until 9ish when the reception started to break up. He also travled 1 1/2 hours to get to our wedding.

Worth every penny. Photography was one thing I wasn’g going cheap on! I think this price is above average in my area with most being around $1,500 -$2,000 but remember I am from a small city..not NYC or anything like that which will be higher, of course.

Our photographer is $4,000 and that includes rights to all of the photos and unlimited shooting hours on the big day in central California! Our engagement photos are going to be done by a different photographer in Chicago and she is $400 I believe (a steal considering her talent.)There are definitely photographers who charge up to $8,000 especially in major metropolitan areas.

We paid $200 for digital photos for an enlopement wedding. They did amazing work. I guess I got a good deal! We paid another $200 or so for prints.

I got a great deal! $700 and that included 7 hrs of coverage on the wedding day, 2 shooters, engagement photos (50 edited), and basic videography (he records but doesn’t edit the ceremony and select reception activities). I will get at least 250 edited photos plus all the other photos he took and the video. This is in Atlanta. I think we got a discount because we got married on a Sunday afternoon.

My DH and I are so pleased with engagement photos so we are so excited to get our wedding pics. The photog told us we’d get them within 2 weeks of the wedding. We got our engagement pics the same night after an afternoon shoot.

We got a deal on pro photographers who were just getting into weddings. $850 for engagement session, 10 hours for our wedding, two shooters, and all the rights to the photos! Everyone has been impressed with the preview shots we got so far!

Im still waiting on a quote from another photog, but we are on the fence with two. One is amazing with magazine quality photos, but our cost will be approx 4,000.00 for 10 hours, 2 photogs, digital negatives, 12×12 album, e-session. We will get at lease 1,000 images. She can shoot beautifully in midday sun and rain and since our venue is mostly outdoors this is important.

The second choice has beautiful flattering vibrant photos, but seems a little less natural and soft as our first choice. She seems to use photoshop much more while the other uses much less because the photos just dont need it. She is 1,895.00 and she is single shooter 8 hours, digital print release, 16×20 print, and e-session or for 400.00 less it’s 6 hours, digital print release, and 8×10 print. We don’t feel a significant reason to have engagement photos since we have been engaged for 5 years now. While her photos will be beautiful Im sure, they don’t seem to have that dreamy natural feel to them, but I’m thinking for 2,000 bucks less I can be happy without as much dreaminess.

The third choice hasn’t sent me anything back yet, but her photos a comparable to our first more expensive choice. So fingers crossed she will be more reasonable.

$2800 taxes included in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Wish I’d paid more because I was NOT happy with what we got in the end. 12 hours coverage, 2 photographers and an engagement session included.

I think I take the cake here. We were quoted for around $9k but thats with a lot of things we most likely will not be getting (italian bound photo book, parents book, etc.) It’s also photo and cinematography, including a SDE shown at the reception. Hopefully it’ll go down to about 7k. I’d rather pay for photos and cinematography and save on other things.

joongielove :  I might take the cake (kind of). I requested a quote for an engagement shoot from a local photographer who is I guess world renowned. He misread my email and gave me numbers for 12 hours of wedding day coverage – $25,000. I never bothered to follow up.

I am getting married in Greece so my photography package there is two shooters & 8 hours of wedding day coverage plus 4 hours extra day shooting for $8,600.
