Once of my good friend’s husband is a minister. My Fiance and I are getting married on the beach and I’ve asked if he would be willing me marry us…. I’m almost positive they won’t request a certain dollar amount for doing so if he is available. I’m just curious, how much are you paying your minister to marry you outside of the church? I am trying to come up with a comparable amount to give him as a thank you.. I was thinking about paying for their hotel for the evening… not sure what else…

Our pastor is going off-site to our venue which is a hotel, and his “fee” is $300. We feel this is a bit steep, but since he is a family friend, we are happy to pay it. However, I’ve heard between $150 – $200 is the normal rate for officiants. Hope this helps a bit!

We aren’t paying ours, but we are having an LDS Bishop perform our ceremony (we aren’t active LDS, but FI’s parent’s are.) However, I have read on several boards that a $50 donation to the church is a good idea for a minister or pastor who isn’t charging for his services. I do think paying for his hotel is also a nice gesture. Good thinking 🙂

I think it will be 100 bux. It’s just for heating/power use of the building which costs them a lot of money. Their power bills are expensive due to the size of the building. I think if it were outside the building it would be free. Since mine will be in the winter, I don’t think that is an option!

Our officiant was DH’s uncle. Of course he said he didn’t want any money. We gave him $50 gift card to restaurant and $100 cash.

We gave ours $200. We did premarital counseling with him, the rehearsal and then the wedding.

Our rabbi married us, but since my parents are members of the temple they didn’t charge. Non members pay $400 so we donated that amount to the temple.

My cousin’s husband is a pastor and is going to marry us. He doesn’t charge normally and isn’t going to charge us. We are going to get him a gift certificate for him to his favorite restaurant. So my cousin and him can have a date night!

Our pastor is my uncle, so we’re going to donate some money to his church. We haven’t decided yet what that would be though, I’m guessing $200.

I think we’re giving about $200, which is average from what I’ve read. Some people give $150.

The church we are getting married at charges $300 for non-members. The pastor is not charging us because my fiance’s grandfather is still a member of the church; my fiance grew up in the church. We will be giving the pastor/church something, but I don’t have a specific dollar amount yet.
