I got my dress from BCBG for less than $300… I looked at Macy’s and Nordstrom websites, and ordered a whole bunch and felt that several of them would have worked – they were all less than $500, which was my budget too (including alterations). My advice: don’t feel pressured to increase your budget – and don’t go and try on the dresses you really can’t afford… I actually stayed out of all the bridal stores as I knew I couldn’t afford them, but had a blast trying on the boxes upon boxes I ordered (just make sure you get free/cheap shipping!).

Before I knew that my parents were going to help I started searching Nordstrom Rack. They had some really nice options.

Are you willing to buy used?  If so, I would check out preownedweddingdresses.com and oncewed.com.  You can probably find a dress that was originally $1000-1500 in your current budget.  If you see anything you like that you think you might love, you can go try it on knowing that you can just get it used for a lot less.

I was able to score a beautiful Pronovias San Patrick dress in my size  for $400. It was a sample and I found it on Ebay. It is in pristine condition much to my dismay, The original price was $1375! I never in a hundred years thought I’d find a dress so beautiful for such a great price. You can definitely find a dress you love on your budget. The interent is a wonderful tool with limitless possibilites. As SerenaSF mentioned you can also fing beautiful gowns that arent all used, some may be samples, on preownedweddingdresses.com, & http://www.oncewed.com/used-wedding-dresses/

My dress was from David’s Bridal for $700, but I got it on sale for something like $500 (my mom bought my dress for me).  Have you looked at DB?  I know that the dresses don’t look that fabulous on the website–you really need to go in person to see how beautiful they really look!
