We are in the DC area, and haven’t been able to find a quality DJ for less than $1,000. I was excited to find photographers with great reviews for around 1,000, but I honestly thought we would pay about $500 for a DJ!
So, where are you, and what are you paying for these two??

$2100 for photographer, $300 for dj.
Photographer was the best I could find for the package she offered [2 shooters for 8 hours, album, full print rights].
DJ is a vendor i’ve used at my work for the past 3 years, so she gave me the “people she loves” discount. She normally runs around $1200. She’s also doing my ceremony music for free.

Photographer was very important to DH and I! We live in a faily expensive area (SF Bay Area), and I paid $4800, and do not regret at all. I could have gone much cheaper, but the quality suffered in my opinion
For DJ, seems like the general price here was around 1500 for around 6-8 hours, which is what we paid.

$2,165 for our photographer for 8 hours of coverage and two people photographing, and an engagement session. All other “cheaper” photogs were around $1,000 but the pictures were HORRIBLE on their gallery.
DJ might run us about $600, as we’re getting a discount because he’s married to my wedding planner.
Be prepared to not find any reputable photographers for any less than $2,000. And I don’t live in DC, I live in the south. If you pay $500 for a photographer, you may only get them for about 4 hours and the photographs may be not the quality you expect.

in Los Angeles. Paying $6000 (2 shooters / 10 hours) – they are one of the best in this area. For DJ, I paid $1000.

Our photographer was $2,000 for 8 hours, two photographers and we got all of our images on flash drives within 2 weeks. This also included an engagment photo session with one photographer and we got all our photos back on a flash drive within a week.
Our DJ was $1,000 for 6 hours of reception, slight discount because our wedding was considered “off season” – we paid $350 for the DJ company to set up at our ceremony site (garden) for music and microphones.

I’m in a fairly inexpensive area (Charlotte, NC) and my DJ was $650 for 6 hours and my photographer was $2100 (full day 2 shooters, 1000 edited photos on dvd with print rights, engagement shoot & boudoir shoot w/edited photos on dvds with print rights, $200 print credit, reception slideshow). However, I happened to get my photographer when her business just started taking off, I think the same package now is around $3000.

$900 for DJ, $3K for photographer (includes CDs with native files and engagement shoot)
ETA – I’m in eastern Washington state, not a super expensive area.

I am in DC as well.<br />
We are paying $1750 for the DJ and $3,500 for the photographer. That being said, I went to a wedding expo and saw many people offer more reasonable DJ services (not so much on the photographer – it seems like we got a pretty good deal there).

I also live in the DC area. I got a photog for $700 (8 hours, no albums but can order at a later time & it included the engagement shoot) and my DJ for $300. Both are super professional and I’m really happy. I will say though, the photog was my biggest concern however both my uncle and really good friend are professional photographers so they’ll have their cameras on hand. So it’s like having a 2nd and 3rd shooter for free. The only reason I didn’t ask either of them is b/c I wanted them to enjoy the day and not have to shoot for work. You know? The DJ is a friend of my FI’s. He works at clubs in the DC nightclub scene. I can’t say what his typical price is, we got the “people I love” price too.

DJ: $1500. He came with his own set-up, his own table, Bose speakers, and lights. He was there for 7 hours.
Photographer: $1400. She and her assistant were there for 7 hours also, and we are getting a jump drive of the finished photos.
