I’m going to go to davids bridal on saturday to purchase THE DRESS.
It’s off the rack, the one they let me try on fit me like a glove. It’ll only need to get hemmed.
So… my question is, since it’s not BRAND new, as if i had ordered it, should I pay for a brand new dress?
Can I talk them down a bit since who knows how many people have had that dress on their bodies? Should they at the very least clean it for me?

Do they generally have a floor model price vs. a brand new price?

What I know about Davids, is that if they have a dress off the rack, they sell THAT to you, they only would order one if they didn’t have one on the rack or you insisted. They instead say “we will clean this one and sell it to you for the price listed”. It’s like any other dress you try on in a regular store. You get what you tried on, or if they dont have your size they can usually order one. Pretty much the traditional “off the rack” wedding gown theory doesn’t apply at Davids.
That being said, no you probably won’t be able to negotiate.

They don’t let you buy it off the rack unless its like in the clearance section. They will order a new dress in and you won’t get a deal.

ah, ok. well..they are holding the one i tried on, so i can buy it on Saturday.
I would be happy if they cleaned it. 🙂

It doesn’t hurt to try, but I wouldn’t expect to save much!

I had to buy the in-store sample, and I didn’t get a discount. Although, it was already in the big sale, so maybe that is why they didn’t discount it further.

You can buy it online for the same price and get it pretty quickly (usually around 1 week). You can order from the store and it gets there in about a month. I ordered the same dress I tried on. They didn’t even offer me the one off the rack.

they told me it’d take 3 months if i ordered it.

Standard response on dress orders at DB is 3 months. It takes about 3 weeks to a month, in reality, which is great.
I was told that unless there was a time crunch issue, they will not sell you floor models (except the clearance rack gowns,) and that they do not discount floor models.

If they won’t lower the price I would rather buy the dress new. If your wedding date is correct you should have enough time to order from them as opposed to buying it off the rack.

nope, it’s august. (i put that in there bfefore i was engaged, guessing at what he would want.)
I THINK I”ll buy it at the store.. it will make me feel so much better knowing.
I *will* ask them to have it cleaned first though.
