FH and I are working to finalize our catering order. We’re doing a 4 hour cocktail reception (8-midnight) on a Friday night for approximately 175-200 people (best guesstimate).
We’re going to provide keg beer (Spotted Cow and Miller Lite) and wine, and have mixed drinks available for purchase.
The question is – how much wine and beer should we budget for? We currently have 2 kegs (160 12 oz glasses each) and one on reserve, and 60 glasses of wine (which I think is rather low for an initial estimate).
Our friends had a 6-7 hour reception (cocktail hour/dinner/dancing) and used 4 kegs and 300(!) glasses of wine, in addition to cash cocktails. We’re using their event as a good barometer for our crowd.
I was thinking 2 kegs, with 2 on reserve (wouldn’t be charged until they’re tapped) and 150 glasses of wine (with the option to host more, or change to cash when we reach 150).
Think that will be enough to provide for 4 hours?
