@Anastasia Yava:  While moissanite might look like a diamond in store, it sometimes doesn’t perform as well in various lighting. Given that moissanite is relatively inexpensive, it might be worth buying a 1 carat from Starsgem or Tianyu (or the initial link I provided) and see what you think/how it looks in different lighting before you proceed. If you like it, you can choose to set it in a ring. Otherwise, if you don’t, well it wasn’t an expensive mistake, and you can either keep it as it is or set it as a pendant, if it wasn’t already set. Given your budget, it’s also worth looking at lab diamonds. They are chemically indentical to mined diamonds, and don’t have the haziness and oil slick problems that often accompany moissanite.

@jaydeeplatinum:  I have a 2ct cushion cut in 14k from Doveggs and it is beautiful especially for the price….great recommendation! It is cheaper to go through Amazon, I paid 350 for my 2ct.

@anonymousbee001:  I doubt this, hazy oilslick often a problem, comment.

I’ve never seen one on any moissanite. Perhaps back when stones were coated. But they aren’t now.  There is no rEason to say that a hazy oil slick is actually a regular problem.

@bctoquebec:  Agreed. While I have seen the “oil slick” every once in a while, it comes of easily with a tiny bit of silver polish which costs $5 for a giant jar. Haven’t seen haziness, but if your moissy gets dirty, you could clean it with some dish soap and vinegar just like any other rock. Mossanites are forever stones and don’t cloud like CZ’s 🙂

Cut is important, even in moissy right? Don’t better cutters charge more?
