We have approximately 85 guests. I ordered 200 of these heart shaped boxes (thinking we’d have at least 120 guests at the time! They only came in incrememts of 100. Anyone want to buy a box of 100 heart shaped favor boxes?!
Anyways, how much candy do you think I would need to fill them? The description says they are 3×3, which you can see however, the actual part that gets filled is smaller. I have not seen these in person because of my wedding location; I’ve had things shipped directly there all along.
I was thinking of doing a mini-candy buffet as well. I say mini- because we have a smallish number of guests, and because the favors are candy. We are going to be using photo coasters as our place cards/extra favor, and I was thinking that once those are cleared out we can put the candy on that table.
How much candy do you think I need? Most items I’ve found come in 5lb packages but I have no idea how much 5lbs of candy really is..

Go to your local grocery store, head to bulk section and fill a bag with 5 lbs of candy and see before you order anything. the amount of candy in 5 lbs really depends on what you”re getting! Marshmallows are light and take up more room than chocolate covered nuts.

Well, that all depends on what kind of candy you want to put in it. I second re pepper’s suggestion. Get thee to a bulk candy store and test it out!

We had a big candy buffet and I remember one example: there was a bag of good n’ plenty that was 5 lbs. It was about 6″ x 12″ in size. To compare, we had m&m’s in bags that were 12 oz. apiece, and it took 5 of those (not quite 5 lbs) to fit a tall apothecary jar, about 12″ high. Five lbs of taffy was about twice the size of the good n’plenty bag.

I would be interested in buying your heart boxes, if still available.

@chicy724: NOt sure if you have already figures this out but here goes.. Take your heart to a candy store and fillit. then weigh it and multiply it by the number of guests.. then you know exactly how much you need. As for a candy buffett. We are doing one for 150 people and will prbably buy at least 75 punds of candy.. good luck!
