When you added up all those “envelope” gifts, how much cash did you recieve as gifts for your wedding?
When you added up all those “envelope” gifts, how much cash did you recieve as gifts for your wedding?
And for something to comment on…do you normally gift a cash gift or a boxed gift at a wedding?
I have always given cash gifts. Even thought it’s not as “fun” I think that it’s what most couples really want. They can always use the cash to buy registry items if that’s what they’d really like.
I only gift cash (in the form of a check or Amex
gift card) at a wedding. I give a boxed gift for the shower.
We received in the neighbourhood of $5000, but I can’t remember whethere it was slightly over/under so I voted in the lower category so as not to skew the results up.
I almost always give cash for a wedding, registry gift for a shower. Unless someone had a really massive registry, then I might assume they REALLY wanted gift gifts, and get them that. Or sometimes if I’m close friends/family with someone I’ll get them one of the “heirloom” or “keepsake” items off their registry in addition to a cash gift. I think it’s kind of fun when my mom brings out the crystal punch bowl that her sister gave her for her wedding or something, and there’s that history with the item.
I didn’t vote because we got less than a thousand dollars. I haven’t been to many weddings since I’ve been living on my own, but I have given boxed gifts.
