If any of you are comfortable would you please share how much your man spent on your e-ring? My first one was the one his dad gave his mother (they divorced and she probably only kept it in case she needed extra cash down the road) and I lost that on our property somewhere. We’re looking to get another one and he says he really doesn’t want to spend more than $700 unless I’m like dying got to have it. But bad thing is…I have really really expensive taste lol

He used the center diamond from his grandma’s ring (appraised at $800) and put it into a new setting, which costs $650. So he spent $650 on it.

Mine was 950$ after tax 🙂 We had it custom made and it’s a moissanite!

Its hard not to compare with someone else on the internet but we are all in different situations and with different circumstance. It took a very long time for us to be able to make this diamond purchase

Are you planning on showing him this thread to try to get him to spend more? What others spent on their ring should have no impact on what you spend.
You say you have expensive taste, have you looked into alternative stones?

3K on the dot after tax and insurance… I wouldnt want to spend to much more… It’s scary walking around with that much on your fingers.
what kind of style are you looking for? What stone?
we were able to get a .75 diamond but if you wanted larger and didn’t NEED a diamond Id look at sapphires or moissanites.

No clue how much he spent. All I know is it took him about 3 months to pay it and before he was able to bring it home. Based on the ring’s specs and my FI’s finances and his own slip of the tongue (referring to how much he paid), I’d venture to say he spent about $6000-8000.
You can get a beautiful ring under $1k if you’re not looking for a diamond or if you’re only paying for the setting and have a gem to put in it.

Mine was over 5k but I have a moissanite…if I had a diamond it would’ve cost 2-3 times that. Get insurance this time.

No I do not have those intentions at all. If I found a $5 ring that I really loved I’d wear it and not feel icky about the cost at all. I’m just curious to see if anyone else has/had the same budget as us and to see what they got around that pricerange. And yes I’m starting to look at other stones (saphires, garnet, etc) to see if there’s something there that I like. What I mean by expensive taste is that you could show me a $5 ring and a 5k ring and ask which one I liked better and I’d always say the 5k without knowing the price. I swear its a curse in every aspect of my life haha and is the reason I hate shopping for anything 😀

Ik, I wish I could go back in time and tell former me to not look at rings until I knew the actual price range. Then to make matters worse was when I was checking out a photographer’s pictures for the wedding and came across his exes engagement pics and wham! closeup of her huge ring lol I was like greeeaat….I try to not be jealous but every now and then….

He spent right around $2K. And because I love to share:
Have you considered chipping in to get a more expensive ring?

Have you considered something other than a diamond? Engagement Ring cost can be however much or however little you want it to be. You might be able to get a better deal with a secondhand ring too.

That’s beautiful! Is the center stone a saphire? I did think about that but then I realized it doesn’t matter how much we spend on one that I’ll always see one that I like better so I just need to find one that really speaks to me

Even though I picked it out, I honestly have no clue.
