First engagement ring was $124 (I still have the receipt!). We were both in university with no money to spare.

Forever e-ring was just over $10k. It’s 1.09 ct, F, VS2, ideal cut in 14k engraved band. But of course, I had to wait for it!

He spent 14K on my ring with a very generous family discount. It appraised for 64K.

£26,500 for the e-ring and around £700 for the wedding band. Not sure what that is in US dollars probably around the 40k mark. He paid over the odds by going with a high end store.

We are older and he was able to buy it outright,

My e-ring from my first marriage was just under £700 in 1989. As we were both students that was a lot of money. Both rings were/are beautiful.

My suggestion, if you’re looking at $700 or just a bit over, look at Moissanite. It’s a beautiful stone, lasts forever, and you can get gorgeous 1ct or bigger rings in the $1000 range. If I was to do it over I would get a Moissanite instead of diamond. I find the sparkle and brilliance of Moissanite to be superior to diamonds. I have both – and people are always commenting on the moissey

Or, consider a stone like white sapphire or morganite. White sapphire looks quite a bit like diamond. Morganite is a pale pink, and looks beautiful with rose gold. It’s cheap compared to Moissanite or diamond

Look on Etsy and find a setting you like. Usually sellers will work with you to get the price you want. They can switch stones, make bigger or smaller to fit your budget.

Heres my new 14k rose gold morganite and diamond ring. It was just over $900 US

£100 (it was in a sale) for my aquamarine white gold engagement ring, I really dislike diamond rings so I wanted something that was nice and simple but slightly shaped so it looks a bit different. Personally, I wouldn’t have wanted Fiance to spend much more as although I ll be wearing it for the rest of my life, i d be terrified to wear something that cost hundreds of pounds.

Mine was $500. My husband and I went halvsies on it, so he only paid $250. It’s a 3/4-carat moissanite.

Getting mine for a steal at $255. Pawnshop listed it at $395 then marked it down to $335. Offered $255 and they accepted it.

About 30k (paid in cash). Just over a month’s salary.

Obcoolio :  Mine was $700 or $800. My husband makes good money and could afford a 5K+ ring without any issues, but I don’t care for that stuff and so he’s even more happy.

You can get a gorgeous moissy ring for that price. My Fiance got me the wedding set, but the e-ring by itself was $760. It’s a 6.5mm/1ct Forever Brilliant set in palladium.
