Depends on how much candy you are talking per person and how many jars.

I’m going to be using about 12-13 jars. I got some from garage sales and some from TJMaxx, I think I am averaging about $6-7/jar.

And for amount of candy, some places recommend up to 1/2 pound per guest to eat and take. It’s easiest to figure this out in ounces. Figure a 1/2 pound is 8oz of candy. If you have 200 guest, that’s 1600oz of candy!

In order to price candy, I went to a few stores and tried to calculate the per ounce cost of everything from off-brand Milk Duds to custom colored M&Ms. If you’ve picked candy that is on average $.35/oz, that’s about $560 in candy only. Candy buffets need some serious research before you decide that’s your route. I’m not going the color coordinated route, because that is pricey, but instead using bulk candy which puts my average in a more reasonable $.25/oz range (so more like $400 range which is about $2/guest before the costs of the jars and containers to go home in.)

Good luck in your research!

we purchased 16 jars/vases/bowls for candy station for around $200, i like fancy and not the thin-glass stuff so they were more expensive from Crate and Barrel, Target, etc.

i spent probably an average of $3/guest, about $700 on candy since i had many guests and i over purchased – the candies I chose were imported candies or the nicer type, i didn’try to match the candy colors so my candy table was a hodge podge of colors~
