I’ve just had a few sips here and there. My husband brews his own beer, so I’ve tasted some of his beers. And if he gets wine with dinner at a restaurant I take a sip from his glass.

Our 1-year anniversary is tomorrow, I might have half a glass of champange, I haven’t decided yet.

I’ve probably had a glass of red wine a month, maybe two, starting in the second trimester. Never more than one in a sitting, though.

It’s a very personal decision, though. I’m comfortable with my choice, as is my husband, as is our midwife.

None.  I don’t believe any amount is safe.  Heck, I didn’t even like taking Tylenol for headaches.

I have never had any alcohol in any of my pregnancies. It just doesn’t feel right for me and I know if there were anthing wrong with one of my kids I would always wonder it that had something to do with it.Until they can say exactly how much is safe, not with the risk to me.

I had a few here and there. I did have like a whole glass of champagne on our wedding date (was 4 months along at this time last year). Other than that I stayed far far away from alcohol

I didn’t know I was pregnant for the first 5 weeks. so during that period, I had drank a bit. There was christmas, new years, and a girlfriends bday dinner. Once I found out though, I didn’t drink at all. I do remember having a mimosa at my friends bday at about 22 weeks. But I asked for just a splash of champage, and thats what I got, so it was mostly orange juice! haha. Other than that none. I just didn’t think it was a great idea with a baby in my belly, as I already felt guilty and worried about the first 5 weeks of my pregnancy.

On a side note: OP, did your doctor tell you he thought 3-4 glasses of wine in one sitting is appropriate, at one time. Because I have never heard of a doctor okaying this. Just a question, not a judgement.

once i’m out of my first trimester, i *think* i’ll feel comfortable with a glass every now and again. it hasn’t been that hard to abstain, but it’s more the social aspect because i’ve never been one to turn down a glass of wine… ever. so i feel like the more i have to say no, the more i’m going to be found out!

@abbyful:  This is similar to me. I’m 31 weeks nad have only had a few sips of wine or beer here and there throughout my pregnancy. It isn’t that I wouldn’t like to but I just can’t shake the guilt which prevents me from even really enjoying it. I am really looking forward to having a full glass once the baby comes 🙂

@Cash000:  I think the OP meant 3-4 glasses of wine collectively throughout the ENTIRE pregnancy.  She said a max of one glass at a time.

@orvis18 – I told my husband we need to bring wine to the hospital, LOL. I think I deserve it after giving birth! (Especially since we’re attempting a natural unmedicated birth.)

Edit to add: I don’t think they do it anymore, but my parents and several other people from their generation told me that after they had the baby, the hospital gave them a candle-light dinner with wine.
