I got drunk. Whoops. I kept it together through the wedding/reception, but I was pretty sloppy (understatement) by the after party.

I had a single beer, haha. I don’t really enjoy being drunk and I wanted to make sure I remembered every little detail of my day. I did have one mimosa in the morning, and I also had one beer at the “after party” (which consisted of the bridal party hanging out in my living room) but I was not tipsy at any point.

sassybeee :  We had a morning wedding and a brunch reception, so just a mimosa at brunch and a shot of sambuca (Italian tradition).

sassybeee :  one mimosa getting ready and then a few glasses of prosecco at the reception. I only drank bubbles because it’s a happy buzz without being drunk plus a champagne glass looks prettier in photos and didn’t risk staining my dress if I spilled lol. Whatever you drink use a glass – nothing looks less classy than a bride with a bud light can in her hand.

Had 2 mimosas getting ready. A nip off DH’s flask during portraits. Hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps at the ceremony. And champagne after dinner for toasting. So not much. I’m not a big drinker. Mostly just had enough to give me a little warmth during our cold portraits and ceremony! Also had more whiskey when Darling Husband and I got to our suite.

sassybeee : I had a couple / few glasses of champagne whilst getting ready, Pimms at the reception and wine with the meal, oddly I didn’t get drunk at all, could’ve been as it wasn’t much throughout the day.

sassybeee :  I ended up drinking too much & I regret it to this day cause I ended up yelling & crying at my bridesmaids cause my Maid/Matron of Honor didn’t have my makeup.

Yea. So be careful drinking cause as hours start counting down you start getting nervous and that’s when I started drinking crown.

I think I only had a glass or 2 of wine total. I was too anxious/excited and hardly ate so I wasn’t in the mood to drink!

I got more than pretty drunk. My bridesmaids were saints for taking care of me (hats off to them for very carefully extracting a from my dress when BAD THINGS were about to happen and the zipper got stuck. Even bigger props to my Maid/Matron of Honor for hopping in the shower with me to make sure I stayed vertical–she got more action than my husband on our wedding night 😉 as was my dad for making the early morning run for Pepto and bagels.

Our bartenders were making VERY strong drinks. And I had the fateful “I’m completely sober” thought at around 9:30 (we had to be leaving venue by 10pm) and had a few too many drinks in very quick succession. But I kept it together until we were back at our rental house for the after party which was really just close friends (who were all in equally rough shape).

I had mimosas in the morning while getting ready, probably 2 or 3. I had a few sips of champagne on the limo ride to the reception, and a glass of champagne during dinner. I stuck to water the rest of the night. Trust me, I drink! But I wanted to remember every part of my night, and also dreaded feeling sick in my dress.

my grandmother (and my dad) said the same thing to me about drinking. i had nothing at the rehearsal dinner or that morning because i didnt want to bloat… but i drank our signature bourbon cocktail the entire reception to keep up with our friends & family and let loose. i had a few glasses of water too and every time i tried to leave the dance floor to pee, i got pulled away for something else. i have no clue how i managed.

i remember everything, including hairwhipping to ACDC (a bridesmaid bet me, and helped me unpin my updo) and the afterparty. it was a really fun night, but a rough morning.

if a few cocktails get you to loosen up or have fun, i say go for it. the bride really sets the mood, if you’re having fun your guests will, too!

Honestly, I don’t know! I had a couple of mimosas in the morning/afternoon, wine with dinner, and the champagne toast. I also had one of our signature cocktails when we first arrived at the reception, but I was so nervous/excited that I don’t think I finished it.

The rest of the night, I kept getting drinks (people giving them to me, mostly), but then I’d put it down to dance or say hi to people or take a picture, and my drinks would disappear! So I really have no idea how many drinks I actually had. I was definitely tipsy, but not drunk. I also drank A LOT of water. My husband drank more than me, but he was still fine, just in that “happy drunk” stage by the end of after party.

I drank A LOT. Didn’t get sloppy or anything, and I wasn’t hung over in the morning. But my vodka was never empty and apparently I also had some moonshine straight from the jar.

The past weddings I’ve been in or attended I’ve noticed that the bridal party almost always has too much to drink, too soon.

I plan to probably have a mimosa getting ready and either one glass of wine OR one or two mixed drinks at the reception, but not until all the events (cake cutting , dances) are over. I want to be able to remember everything and to feel good the next day !

I had a mimosa while getting ready, and maybe one beer during the reception? Honestly wish I’d had more, but I was so busy making sure I’d spent time talking to each guest, etc.
