I am debating selling my dress. It retailed around $1000 I think. Slight alterations include shortened train, and taking it in at the waist. No hems, as I’m pretty tall. Becuase we had a pretty disasterous wedding day (DH was super sick) I only wore it for about 4 hours for pictures and the ceremony. It breaks my heart to get rid of it because it kind of means admiting we don’t get a ‘do-over’ of the day. But all it is doing right now is hanging in a closet at my parents’ house.
For those of you who sold your dresses, how much did you make back?
Do you regret your decision to sell it?

What designer is it?
I wore an Alfred Angelo from David’s Bridal to my first wedding and I couldn’t GIVE that thing away. They’re just too inexpensive and easy to find. Anyone can roll up to DB and get a brand new one off the rack.
If you have an Allure, Jim Hjelm, Mori Lee, etc, then from what I’ve seen you can usually recoup about 50%.

Im trying to sell a completely unworn brand new Justin Alexander that i paid £2000 for. Really struggling to find anyone to buy it even at £900. Id hate to think the situation id be in if it was altered or worn!

Thanks for your feedback. It’s Wtoo, so nothing super fancy or soughtafter. It was also a very popular design so I’m sure there are plenty available. I guess my best bet might be to donate it and take the tax deduction?

I’d say probably $300-400 if you paid $1000. An altered gown will only fit so many people out there.
