We will be over by $6000… and that’s with both of us being really crazy about sticking to the budget. Everything just crept up on us lol. Thankfully, we have saved enough to cover what we went over on.

We went 24k over the budget DH and I wanted, but our original vision got overturned within days of our engagement. We went 10k over our adjusted budget.

I feel like you should add more options, or do it as a % because a lot of people go over by double!

Ours was DOUBLE what we wanted.  Originally thinking $30k, it was about $60k

We went $5K over budget.  My original # was $10K and we ended up paying around $15K.

My initial budget price point was not at all realistic or based on anything factual.  I just pulled that number out of my a$$ when the planning began ha!

We had a budget of 15,000 and our wedding came to 14,338.

@Papillon23:  As long as you budget based on realistic numbers (e.g., vendor quotes, projected guest list)…you shouldn’t go TOO far over budget.  It just depends how many details you plan out initially.  If you inadvertantly leave out a huge piece of the budget, then you’ll probably blow right through your budget!!

Example – I decided at the last minute I wanted favors.  Well, that tacked on a couple hundred dollars.  I also didn’t intially factor in bridal party gifts and tips.  Don’t forget about the tips!!

Our original budget was $10,000, but we decided very quickly that wasn’t going to work so upped it to $12,000.  We’re not done yet, but it looks like we’ll come in on target.

Depends on how you look at it. The first budget was 15K but we quickly learned that the reception alone would cost more than that.  The second budget doubled to 30K which was more realistic for our area. We spend just under 40. So either 25 or 10 depending on which budget you go off of.

Wow, I’ve not gotten married yet but really hope we’ll be able to keep the budget under control. We also just picked a number that fell within what we thought everything would add upto.  However, I’m sure something will come up that we hadn’t accounted for. Our goal is to stay at 20K or under including our flights to Scotland (where we’re getting married).
