I just spent close to $2,000 for my friends wedding.  She had a bachelorette party in Miami, a very expensive shower, and lots of other things to pay for including gifts.  That includes all of the travel and hotel.

For my wedding, they paid $60 for their dress, $55 for makeup, bachelorette party in NYC, which included a shower that I hosted at my apartment, dinner out, and hotel and plane tickets to New Orleans where I had my wedding.  Including travel, it was probably around $1,000.

@Liss13:  I didn’t MAKE them spend anything. However I did ask them to spend $129.99 (plus whatever tax is in their respective state. 4 attendants in 4 states) on the dress I picked.

They could do whatever with their hair

Do your own makeup

Pick a silver shoe of your choice

I bought their accessories

One girl wanted to wear a wrap, therefore, I bought them for everyone.

My Maid/Matron of Honor also had to fly to GA where I was moving and the wedding would be. The other 3 were sisters and stayed with family.

Where is everyone getting these $100 bridesmaids dresses??? The only dresses in that price point were at David’s Bridal, and even at that, the majoirity of dreses at DB was more than a $100. We found a Dessy dress we all could agree on. It’s about $220 at bridal shops; and we’ll probably order it online for $180.

They are on thier own for hair and make-up. I have told them it’s $50 if they want it done by the same woman who’s doing mine. Otherwise they can do it themselves.

They are wearing their own shoes, as long as their black.

The bachelorette party is a Chicago weekend in October. Most people are coming from Cleveland and taking an $80 megabus ticket. Some are out-of-state and have to fly. The hotel is $100 per person. We’re doing a VIP clubbing package that’s $50; and other food and drinks are additional $.

The majority of people are staying at a holiday inn the night of the wedding. They’re on their own for that.

The only thing I’m buying them is gifts, and I will try to be generous.

So far I’ve only asked them to buy the dress which was $160. It’s long so I’m telling them to wear any shoes they want. I’m providing necklaces and I’m giving everyone the choice to do their own hair/makeup or they can pay to have it done. Whatever they are comfortable with.

I have 4 bridesmaids.

Dress – I got their dress from a Chinese website and they just cost 100RMB (around $20 AUD) each.

Makeup & Hair – On the wedding day, my makeup artist will do the makeup and hair for them individually. It costs $140 pp

Shoes – Since I really want the girls can wear very comfortable shoes on that day so they would deal with that themselves. But I indicated the colour.

Accessores – rings & necklaces. Also got from a Chinese website, around $5 AUD pp.

So that totally $165 AUD pp.
