Gosh… Maid/Matron of Honor bought her shoes, organised and paid for my hen do, and will pay travel costs to and from my venue… not sure how much, but it won’t be cheap. Maybe £150 total? I have 3 other BMs. I feel a bit bad about Maid/Matron of Honor… but most of it is travel costs. I would have helped her, but she can’t stay at mine etc so I can’t give her lifts.

1. Is staying with her parents and getting lifts, so no travel costs. Paid for her shoes. Maybe £30 total?

2. Is paying travel costs to and from my house and is staying with me. Maybe £8 travel costs? £16 if you count the trip to the rehearsal.

3. Is getting lifts and staying with friends. £0.

I had my girls wear a convertible dress which they could ideally wear again that was about 90 with shipping, no alterations as they sent in their measurements to the seller.  That was the only requirement.  They had free reign of how to wear them for the most part only some restrictions there due to the church venue, They got to choose whichever shoes they wanted, thier hair thier nails etc etc etc.  They all looked great so it worked out. 🙂  I’m not sure how much they all choose to spend on shoes or if they used their own I know most of them got their hair done but it was really up to them what they wanted to do after they bought the dress I had picked out.

I’m not having a bridal party, but when I was one:

Dress and alterations- around $200

Shoes – she said silver, and I didn’t have any, – $50

Hair & make-up- (it was optional but everyone did it) – $245

Her mother paid for the bridal shower, and I don’t remember what I paid for the bachelorette, but it wasn’t significant. I did buy balloons for the shower, but that was about $10 total.

Mani/pedi was also on my own, but somewhere in the $50 range with tip

Plus gifts for the engagement party, bridal shower, and wedding. It all adds up.

Here is my approximate breakdown:

Dress: $150

Shower Gift: $50 each

Bachelorette Party (in another state at the beach): probably about $200 each

Hair: $75 each

$150 for the dress

$100 for hair and makeup (I’m paying for part of it as a gift, otherwise it would be $150)

$50 each for hotel stay the night before the wedding

my girls will choose what shoes they want to wear, based off what they own as long as their neutral. I have no idea what they will be spending for the bachelorette party, and they don’t have to worry about the shower since mom and Mother-In-Law are throwing it.

$150 for a dress and NOTHING else and no one could be bothered to buy it so I canned my bridal party.  That was just the icing on the cake! I was even going to pay for their hair and makeup.

Dress: $150

Shower: $150

Shower gift: $50

Bachelorette Party (I didn’t attend but they Bridal Party requested I threw down $): $25

Hair: $90

Shoes: $40

Alterations: TDB

So far over $500, this is not including me driving an hour to the wedding, hotel room, wedding gift, etc.

I will NEVER be in another wedding AGAIN, but I wouldn’t probably feel this way if the bride (my FSIL), called to actually talk to me and ask how I was doing instead of requesting I send another check… I’m starting to feel like an ATM. Undecided

@TexasAggieMom:   Haha! I feel the same way about the dresses. I’m going to offer to pay for it to be hemmed so they can make sure they use them again.

My girls dresses were $110. We ordered them custom made to their sizes hoping they wouldnt need alterations but that didnt turn out so hot. all 3 got screwed up but no one did the alterations yet so we’ll see on that how much that will be. Hair is going to be $30 and their doing their own makeup. For shoes i told them to pick whatever they had that was black. if they want to buy new ones thats up to them. Me, my mom and my sister cause shes my Maid/Matron of Honor will more then likey all be going to get mani/pedis together. as for the other 2 bridesmaids its up to them if they want to go get one but im not making them

Dress – between $150-300 (their choice from the designer)

Alterations – Their choice, two got it for free, the other two paid 125 because they used the salon

Shoes – Told to get white, I think they spent between $0 and $80

Hair – $75 but optional

Makeup – $85 I’m paying though

Jewlery – Whatever they want

Nails – Whatever they want

My Bachelorette I think was $100 each though it was optional to attend

Total range: $150-680

Most girls spent I think $450?

I don’t think its been unreasonable given that the dress was an expense in January so it at least spaced things out more…

My sister is getting married in a few weeks and she was careful to pick out really reasonably priced dresses that I seriously would wear again – $100 for the dress, $22 for the shoes, I think they’re covering hair and all that but idk.

my bridesmaids dresses were 180, shoes were 29.99, necklace and earring set 16.99. I bought them a bracelet. Hair 75, makeup 75 (but these were optional). hotel room for night 99. So essentially between 326-476 bucks! it all adds up but I tried my very very best to keep things as cheap as possible. And i did not force anyone to purchase anything out of their budget

@Liss13:  My BM’s spent $100 on the dress (I covered anything over that). Shoes are going to be extremely inexpensive because the dresses are floor-length so you’re not even going to see the shoes. They’re doing their own hair & makeup; I just told them to keep it simple, nice, and coordinate the same style. I’m also not making them do their nails. Who gets close-up photos on BM’s nails anyways? I’m the only one getting them done since I’m the bride. The only other thing they are going to have to cover (if need be) is their alterations. Luckily, one of my Bridesmaid or Best Man does not need them. The other one decided to start losing a crap ton of weight right before we ordered the dresses. Those costs will be on her. Lastly, I’m providing the jewelry.

@Liss13:  I’m not having bridesmaids but AS a bridesmaid, one wedding cost me just about $1000 with dress, shoes, hair, shower, bachelorette, hotels, travel, and gifts for every wedding related party.

I have been in a couple other weddings that didn’t cost me near that much and I was comfortable with what I spent, but not this one. I will never be a bridesmaid again because of that.
